Alcudia recommendations
Morning all,
Going to Alcudia in a weeks time staying in the bellevue apartments - just wondering if any one has any recommendations for the area - where to eat ? what to see ?
And even any reviews if you have been to bellevue or alcudia before - I have read some good and bad reviews on the apartmetns that we are staying in but all in all alcudia gets good reviews.
any help would be great !!
thanks in advance.

The Bellvue appts were where we always used to stay when we went to Alcudia. It is a a large complex. Now bear in mind we haven't been for about 8 years so no doubt things will have changed.
The Bellvue is set at the end of a long dead end street that leads down to the beautiful beach. The street outside your apts is full of bars, cafes and restaurants but you get no problems whatsoever from them. Bear in mind Alcudia is classed as a family resort so all the bars are aimed pretty much low key at families. The walk to the beach is about 10mins.
The Bellvue itself has about 10 appt blocks each with it's own pool. It has a lake right alongside it where they used to have jetskies. Set towards the middle is a large group of buildings. Here you will find the restaurants, bars, shops, disco and a games area. There also used to be a mini fair for kids as well. The only problems i ever heard of was from the disco as it used to get locals in there as well but these were mostly the 15-18 year olds but it was more from them riding mototr bikes around or hairdryers as i used to call them :D
Alcudia itself is lovely. A beautiful beach that stretches for miles. The town is set in 3 parts really. The bit where your staying which is the tourist bit with all the hotels and restaurants. Then you have the old town where the market is but that is a good 40mins walk away. You then have the port area which again is a fair walk but is lovely.
There is a water park up there which is probably a 25mins walk away.
Majorca itself? Well there is so much to see and do i couldn't fit it on one page.
Pearl Factory --(manacor i think) where you can see watches and jewellery being made (and you can buy stuff ;) )
Caves of Drach---- unbelievable caves underground with a special something at the end. A candel lite concert on an underwater lake.
Valdemossa- where chopin stayed for many years
Palma-- that has the superb catherdral and castle
Deya-- where Catherine zeta whatsherface and Michael Douglas have their home
Puerto pollensa--- i think it is that has the famous church at the top of a hill whith a ton of stairs to walk up (we cheated and drove up :D )
La Colobra (the cobra)-- where only the brave tend to drive but once at the bottom it's worth it. I crapped myself when i did the drive as there were no roadside barriers when i went and the drop was straight down, a couple of hundred metres inches from the roadside.
Soller--- where you can actually get a train from soller to palama. There is also a smaller train that runs from the the old part of soller to the new part.
Magaluf--- to see where the mad Brits head for :D
All in all Majorca is a stunning island and Alcudia my fav resort, when we go back we won't stay anywhere else but Alcudia and would probably still pick the Bellvue.

One recommendation - don't go! Sorry, but I stayed at the Bellevue last year and it is a dump, as is the resort. It's loud and full of drunken northern blokes burnt silly and drinking beer all day - sorry but that's exactly what it was like and I was ready to leave after 3 days (so unlike me on a holiday :) ). I would recommend you spend as much time as possible on the beach, which is fantastic, and visit the market in the old town of Alcudia, which is beautiful, if only to get away from the resort for a few hours. I certainly shouldn't worry about what to eat in the resort around Bellevue - all you'll get is English food with everything served with chips! I got a funny look when I asked for a salad one night
Enjoy the beach!
Jo
Oh, and don't forget to take plenty of money to hire a kettle, fan etc. if you need it as nothing comes for free at the Bellevue.

We've stayed in Puerto Pollensa a few times, and visited Alcudia while we were there. Had a great pizza (best I've ever tasted) at Don Vito's.
Preferred the caves at Arta to those at Drach, though both are worth a visit.
Took the train from Soller to Palma ... my kids loved it. There's a fab patisseria (cake shop) in the main square in old Soller which sells the most delicious biscuits covered in orange marmaladey stuff - wish I'd bought more! It's worth spending a bit of time wandering through the streets of old Soller, and there's a big craft shop in the new part of town near the port, if you like that sort of thing.
The old town of Pollenca is also very quaint and picturesque. There's a lovely old chapel in the town square, with plenty of good tapas bars & restaurants next door, and you can walk up the 365 Calvari steps to another small chapel at the top of the hill - great views on a clear day.
Puerto Pollensa (the resort; not the same as Pollenca itself) has a lovely beach and a pine walk where everyone goes at night for the traditional 'paseo'. The Cuban bar, 'El Mojito' does some great cocktails and the waiters are very easy on the eye. ;)
Sa Calobra ... OMG!!! I've never seen a road like it in my life. Kept my eyes shut the whole way down. It's lovely once you make it down to the cove, though. Just pray you don't encounter a tour bus coming in the opposite direction.
It's a lovely island - you'll have a great holiday.

Myself and my flatmate went to Alcudia and stayed in the Bellvue apartments last september. For the most part we have a great time, the apartment were clean and basic. You do have to pay for everything such as kettles and so on though.
They have entertainment on everynight....which is a bit ropey.
But all in all we had a good experience of it.
Take plenty mosquito stuff i got eaten alive and still have scars from the bites and whatever you do DO NOT eat at Yummy Yummy, it is without doubt the most disgusting food I have ever payed for.
