Ibiza for the not so young and cool.

Ibiza for the not so young and cool.
Long story short. I'm off to Ibiza next week and I'm a bit worried about what to expect......
I'm going with my bf, who's younger than me (he's a young 31 and I'm nearly 40 - although I look and act younger.) He's been before, loves clubbing, dancing etc and is very into the whole 'rave' culture (90's child!) knows all the music, knows how to dance to it etc, whereas I like nothing more than to listen to 80's disco and dance round my here :wasfield:

We're staying at a hotel in a quiet part of the island so I'm not at all worried about the day time, but we will be venturing over to 'the kids side' so I can experience clubbing/raving (whatever it's called) before I collect my pension. I want to do it, but I don't want to feel stupid and out of place. I have no idea of what to wear to one of these clubs (and it'll probably be all nighters).
I'm basing my fear on what I've seen on TV (it all looks like very young, slim, pretty girls in next to no clothes :( )
Any advice please???

Hi Left of Centre
I am in my mid to late 30s getting on a bit old with my first grey hairs seeeping through.
Anyway about being cool - I go out sometimes with people in their 20s.
I go to places like New Look or Next or Top Shop to try and find a nice outfit that would suit me on a night out.
I can get away with wearing a tunic as my legs are not too bad. I wear a classic denim skirt with a nice T-shirt and a modern cardigan.
That way that I'm not old!!
If you feel out of place with the 20s somethings you can always relax by the poolside.
Have a nice holiday in Ibiza and enjoy the music and clubbing - I do not go to nightclubs now but I still go to pubs and sometimes I leave after midnight.

Nothing you ever do or wear could look out of place in Ibiza - its a place you can be yourself and no one will bat an eyelid or care.
Ignore the stereotypes you may have seen on tv- its not like that everywhere. It is an incredibly chilled place if you avoid the madness.
If you want something classier and/or quieter, try Ibiza town or the north of the island and steer clear of San An (like a mass uk stag/hen party on acid in my honest opinion).
You will be surprised to see its not all 20 somethings there..
And you MUST MUST MUST see the sunset from the west of the island (people converge on cafe mambo and cafe del mar every night and clap and cheer when the sun goes down.)
Beautiful is not the word for an eivissa sunset

Cheers peeps, I feel slightly more reassured now.
The sunset sounds awsome and is definately something we'd like to see.
I've been told the tap water isn't so good - should I really be avoiding ice in drinks and salad (which, as a veggie on an all inclusive break, I don't know what else I'm going to get to eat, but I don't want to end up spending the whole week on the loo!!)
I still want to go clubbing but I don't want to look like Kevins mom in 'Kevin and Perry Go Large' :o
I hate getting older :(

You will totally love Ibiza! I have been lots of times.
Wear what ever you like clubbing, choose somewhere like space away from San an. I usually wear a bikini top and skirt cause it is usually really hot but there is no dress code in most of the clubs so wear what ever you are comfy in.
I generally drink bottled water when I am out there ( some apartments have de-salinated water so you don't want to drink that!) but have never avoided ice in drinks or salad. I wouldn't worry I have never been ill, take diahorrea tablets just in case. As for food I am not a vegy so can't comment there but you do get vegy tapas and things so you should be fine. There is a really amazing choice of food. Try and find proper Ibizan spanish places as they are the best.
Do go and watch the sunset it is amazing ..... for a cheaper less crowded option go to the local spar and buy some drinks then walk along the beach a little way past the bars and you can get an amazing view, cheap drinks and aren't crammed in with loads of people.
Do visit Ibiza town too, it is great to just people watch and wander around the harbour and see the million pound boats! ..... drinks in the bars can be very expensive but worth it.
I am so jealous! I want to go back! PM me if you need any more info
