Couply holiday destinations?
Couply holiday destinations?
My newish bf and I are hoping to go away together in September.
We would like somewhere hot, with a beach and that has things to do to keep us entertained. I dont want to go to any of the usual tenerife/majorca type places but am struggling to think of anywhere we could go thats not too expensive.
I prefer relaxing, nice restaurants and interesting places to visit, I think he would prefer somewhere with a bit of nightlife. Is there anywhere that combines both ??
Thanks in Advance!

 Hi
Two suggestions that instantly spring to my mind are:
Santorini: Me and my boyfriend have booked to go here in August. From the reviews I have read it seems very cosmopolitan. We are staying in Kamari which has lots of greek taverna's and bars but none of the 18/30 style clubs and english pubs. The beach is black shingle though so not sure how you would feel about that, we cant wait though!
My other suggestion is cala d'or in Majorca. We were placed here allocated on arrival a couple of years ago. I would never have gone there on my own accord as Majorca has never taken my fancy either but it was great! Hundreds of bars and restaurants, but again no 18/30 style groups. There was a gorgeous marina too. The beaches were gorgeous (one of the best ive been to) and really clean! Theres even a man selling fresh fruit that he cuts open for you. The resort is very cosmopolitan, and seems quite small at first but then once you start to explore it just goes on and on. Cala d'or is pretty cheap to get to aswell which is always a bonus!
PM me if you want any more suggestions!

Three Spanish cities spring to mind for me - Barcelona, Valencia and San Sebastian. Both Barcelona and Valencia have more than enough to do and see and lots of great restaurants but also have beaches close to hand. San Sebastian is quieter but still is reasonably lively with good beaches (surfing is popular apparently) and trips to Bilbao, Guernica or Biarritz aren't out of the question. It also has a lot of high class restaurants - lots of 3 michelin stars but you can still eat lunch well for next to nothing.
And all are well served by budget airlines although with San Sebastian, you'd have to fly to Bilbao or Biarritz, I think.
Malaga is also nice but I can't remember how much beach is there but it is bang slap on the Costa Del Sol.

Me and my boyfriend are considering going to Turkey in September - that's probably a good option, and not too expensive.
I think a lot of the Greek Islands or mainland would be good too - I've been to Greece loads of times and really enjoyed it. Also went twice with a (now ex) boyfriend and had lots of fun, although Kefalonia was too quiet for us. Zante (not Laganas though) is also really great and has some fabulous bars with yummy cocktails.
Alcudia in Majorca is another place I've been to with the ex, and we absolutely loved it; gorgeous beaches.
Perhaps just browse through an online holiday website and have a look to see what comes up in your budget and then have a look in a brochure or online to find out more about the resort. You can usually tell what they mean if they say the resort is 'very lively' etc!

I would definitely recommend Sardinia - just come back from a week in Alghero with a friend.
We had a great time, although we were not after a couply thing being platonic girlfriends it is such a good couply place, very romantic but loads to do too. There are fab beaches, the food is to die for and there are loads of bars and restaurants in the old town. There is also an all night disco which we had read about and thought we'd give a miss being two classy ladies but having spent a really good evening there, not realising it was the all night disco, we decided to spend another couple of nights there. It's not at all like the Ibiza places - it's al fresco and quite intimate really.
ryainair do really cheap flights depending on when you go - we got two flights inc taxes for just under £200 - you can get them much cheaper if you are more flexible with the day you fly out than we were, they range from 1p to £99 before taxes. Avoid Saturday evening though - that seems to be the most expensive. We stayed at a lovely hotel for 80 euros a night (about £53) per room http://www.villapiras.it/sitouk/hotel.htm
oh and I'd also recommend Santorini - we stayed in Perissa which is really nice with a few good bars and restaurants and a short cab ride to Thira and had a fabulous time. The beach was lovely, although with it being black volcanic sand it got really hot to walk on.
Anyway wherever you go hope you have a lovely time
