Hotel in Central Oxford
Hotel in Central Oxford
Does anyone know of a good hotel in the center of Oxford? We are going to a wedding in June in New college?. All 3 of the suggested hotels have a minimum of 2 nights stay or are £180- quite alot for one night!
Many thanks to any local Oxfords!

Hi Amy,
The hotels in Oxford aren't cheap as you've found. If you do decide to splash out the Malmaison used to be a prison and the rooms are converted cells so at least that would add a bit of interest. It's got a nice bar and is very central and close to bars /restaurants like the Living Room
or try and find something through this:

There are travelodges etc on the outskirts but you'd be forking out for taxi's then instead.
ETA I've stayed in these apartments and they are great (if you got a 2bedroomed apartment and shared costs it might work out better value?). You can request a breakfast which they deliver on a tray (cornflakes and a roll) but you could do your own in the kitchen or go to a cafe. They overlook the canal and are very central, about 2mins walk from the train station. As I was there for work I'm not sure how much they were but I think about £50 pppn? http://www.oxstay.co.uk/
Enjoy the do!

I go out in Oxford a lot but stay at my brothers. I'm sure friends have stayed in a very central chain (Traveldoge type) for about £50 a night. Will check which one it was.

Not that I'm a cheap skate or anything but £50 seems more reasonable! These weddings all add up!
Will check out travel lodges. Thank u.

We went to a wedding last year the church was in Oxford town centre so we stayed at this travelodge http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_h...OxfordPeartree
It was a 1 min walk to the park and ride which dropped us right in town.. then we paid for taxi home ... much cheaper than staying in the town.
Travelodge was really nice too not grotty .. we had breakfast at the little chef too before we went on the bus! we actually got there a bit earlier in town for mooch around the shops and a drink in a bar first!
We went down the night before and got the Park and ride into oxford and back on the fri evening .. had a meal and nipped into debenhams too!
Like you say the costs add up ... this was a cheaper option for us.
Thanks
