Las Vegas tips anyone?

Las Vegas tips anyone?

I'm off to Vegas in 2 1/2 weeks for my friend's wedding :elvis: - can't wait, at last!
Was wondering if anyone has been recently and has any good tips for nightlife, daytime stuff, good places to eat, anything really - be interested to hear people's opinions. (I'm there for a full week, so although some of our time is spoken for with the wedding, I'm probably there for longer than a lot of people stay in Vegas for).
We've already arranged http://www.grandcanyontours.com/heloadvt.html" target="_blank">this Grand Canyon trip, will be going to Freemont Street one evening and seeing Elton John at Caesar's (cheesy but gotta be done!).

We were there in Jan to get married at the MGM, it is amazing, as is all of Vegas I can't wait to go back.
The food places I loved were, the Burger Bar, Mandalay Place if you like burgers it's a MUST, even our minister recommended it. For chinese Lillie Langtrys is really nice. We also enjoyed the Cheesecake factory at Ceasars - amazing even if we had to have the cheesecake togo as we ate too much for lunch. Craft Steak was fab for steaks, if a little pricey. But the portions everywhere are massive. We ate breakie in the MGM Buffet, everyday, which was an experience the amount of food and choice as astounding. But we also heard that Paris's Buffet was mega.
We only managed to eat lunch once in the 5 days we were there, as brekkie and dinner was so massive.
Ka is out of this world, but so are all of the cirque de soleil shows. Ka is/was the newest.
The grand Canyon trip is spectacular, are you going to brave the glass platform? It wasn't finished when we were there, but I think I would have chickened anyway.
My only tip is take comfy shoes and blister plasters you will walk miles.
Have a fab time.

Thanks for that, glad someone's replied, thought it was going to be another tumbleweed moment!
Most of us are staying at the Imperial Palace (bride and groom at the Bellagio!) and although it seems adequate for a budget I believe the food buffets aren't great there so will prob be trying loads of different places to eat. It's right opposite Caesars, so the cheesecake place sounds good, yum!
Unfortunately I'm not sure that there will be time to do the skywalk at the Grand Canyon, even though this trip goes to the West Rim so it's the right area. This was booked ago - will try to find out if it's now a possibility, would be well up for it.

Oh you lucky thing. This time last year I was getting ready to spend a week in Vegas for a wedding.
You have plenty of time to do stuff in a week, so I would recommend shopping! Go to the outlet malls, the best one is a quick cab ride away downtown. I was :faint: at the prices and had to buy another bag to bring all my goodies home in:D The Fashion Mall is the shopping mall on The Strip but it's way more expensive and a cab driver told us it was mainly for tourists so they whack the prices up. Oh and there's a second outlet mall that's very good.
Food at The Venetian is lovely. This place is amazing http://www.venetian.com/HomePage.aspx#ID=GNDLUX and it's owned by the famous and oh so yummy Cheesecake Factory :letseat: It also does devine champayne cocktails that are like alcoholic slush puppies.
If you haven't been before you will love Freemont Street. The light show is great, but it's all the casinos that make it special-it's the Vegas you see on TV and films. I loved it down there and took about 150 photos!
As pinkmexican said you won't need to worry about lunch. We didn't eat it once in a week. Buffet breakfasts are bizarre-they serve up everything so you get all the food you would at a dinner buffet. It can be a bit tough finding just toast and pancakes:lol: You don't have to stick to your hotel for meals so if your buffet is crap or expensive you can go elsewhere.
The Manderlay Bay is a great hotel to spend the evening in. It has a bar in the middle of the main casino that has a band or singer everynight and they were always good when I was there.
Oh, one bad thing. If you drink spirits ask for a brand you can see in the bottles behind the bar. If you just ask for a vodka and coke it will be piped from the basement which can be up to a mile away:cmeek: AND it's as weak as anything.
Check out this link www.cheapovegas.com Don't be fooled by the name, it covers every hotel and gives honest reviews on eating/pool/ genreally everything. I was given it by another bagger and it helped loads.
God, I waffled on, but I :throb: Vegas!
