Yes! We went about 3 weeks ago, and loved every minute of it :throb:
We stayed in the Medina (old town) and I'd definitely recommend it. We stayed at Riad Eden, which was lovely and a fantastic location, but there are plenty of others around. I'd recommend a riad, as they're tiny (ours had 4 rooms I think) and like exclusive boutique hotels, but at travelodge prices!
We were there for 5 days because we wanted to take our time and I need to be able to rest a lot. I think it could have been done in a long weekend though, for someone with normal health!
The main square and the souks are a must see - though be warned that you will get hassled by stall owners, and it's almost impossible just to browse without having something shoved in your face to buy. It's good fun though, and a 'non, merci' will usually do the trick.
We spent lots of time just walking around really - there's the main mosque near the square which is beautiful (although you can't go in). Also if you head out of the medina there are the Palace el Badii (lovely) and the Sadiaan tombs which we didn't make it to, but are on the old 'must see' tourist list.
From the main square we took a ride in a horse and trap around the city, which was lovely. I think we paid something like 200DH for the two of us, which was just over £10 for an hours ride. It is possible to haggle lower, but I was tired and couldn't be bothered :o
We went for a hammam and argan oil massage at Les Bains de Marrakech - well worth doing!! It's possible to get private, mixed cabins there so if you're a couple you can visit together.
If you want any more info the feel free to PM me. I'd definitely recommend it!

Yes I went last year and stayed in a privately owned french hotel in the diplomatic quarter - a riad would probably have been cooler but it was a treat from Mr Chops and he didn't think to book one.
We went up into the Atlas mountains - that's worth a day trip too.
There is a really good restaurant in a palace inside the medina which you have to go to - the name is escaping me right now but I'll repost if I remember it. They serve pastilla in sweet and savoury varieties, which is one of the local delicacies.

We went to marrakech in early December for a week and although the weather wasn't great (rainy and quite cold in the evening) we still loved it...but if you're going in May the weather should be good anyway.
Like Bibbitybob we stayed in a Riad in the Medina (Riad Des Oliviers). It was beautiful, mosiac floors and lit with henna lamps at night and being in the old town it was within easy walking distance of the souks and the main square (Djemna El fna) which are both a must. The souks are like medieval rabbit warrens and it's easy to get lost for a while in them but we found that everywhere seemed to eventually lead out to the main square. Remember to haggle prices down when you buy anything as it's expected, the first quote given is always inflated and usually most haggling is in good humour between the seller and potential buyer.
The main square is very atmospheric especially at night when it really comes to life with entertainers and outdoor food stalls. A couple of evenings we ate from the stalls and in some ways it's safer than eating from cafes/restaurants as you see the food being prepared and cooked. There's lots of orange juice stalls where they will freshly squeeze a glass of juice for you but we used to take our empty water bottles and have them fill them up with fresh juice for virtually nothing.
The horse and traps are just past the main square in the direction of the mosque and it's well worth taking a trip on one to see the old and new city.
I'd definitely recommend a trip to the High Atlas mountains aswell and you can visit some berber villages and berber market along the way. We also did a day trip by coach to the fishing town of Essouria and it was wonderful, really clean little fishing town by the sea...used to be a big hang out for the Beetles and Jimmy Hendrix. If you like fresh sea food then you will love eating in Essouria.
Marrakech is a great place for a city break, am sure you'll have a wonderfull time xx
