Hotel in Glasgow area
Hotel in Glasgow area
We're just planning our honeymoon and to break the journey up a bit on the way home we want to spend a night in the Glasgow-ish area. Any recs for a nice (pref romantic!) hotel?

Cameron House at Loch Lomond (about 30 mins drive from Glasgow) is very nice, if a bit pricey but it is a special occasion!
If you want to be in the city itself, One Devonshire Gardens is posh, its in the West end which is a nice part of Glasgow. Malmaison is right in the city centre and is lovely.
There's a new hotel called Mar Lodge just outside Glasgow too which is meant to be lovely, Red Hot Chilli Peppers stayed there when they played T in the Park!

I can't believe I forgot Malmaison :rolleyes: I used to have a flat in Glasgow which was well within staggering distance of their excellent champagne bar, so I can highly recommend the bar at least! ;)

Cameron House is OK IMO, but I think there are much better hotels around the area. I have never really taken to it, and don't think it's that special (compared with ODG for instance).
I have also heard iffy reports on Mar Lodge. We looked at the possibility of having our wedding there, and a friend of my mum's who'd been there said it really didn't live up to it's supposed reputation.
