The Maldives

The Maldives
  Hello
My sister is pulling her hair out. She wants to go to the Maldives for her honeymoon but she doesn't know where to start!?!?!
She would like to stopover somewhere as well. The problem is that she doesn't know who to book through or exactly where she wants to stay because there is so much choice.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi there.
I went there for my honeymoon 5 years ago and highly recommend it!!
I went with agents called Kuoni, who are very good. Their website is here. They should be able to help your sister choose.
The next best option is to pick up a few brochures, as that should help her get a few ideas of which resort / island she likes..
There are hundreds of islands and they all have different facilities available... We went to the Full Moon Resort, which was lovely.. it wasn't too far from the capital / main island of Male.. which allowed us to do a day trip there.. and to some of the other local islands.. it was great!
Make sure she gets a water bungalow - they are amazing! Most will have steps leading into the water.. so you can safely leave your back door open, and snorkel off!!
If you do a google search on the Maldives. loads of info will come up!
HTH!

If she has a look on the Male airport arrivals, she'll soon find out where flights come in from, and can work out where she wants to stopover! One of the more direct routes is to stopover in Dubai. However we're flying with Qatar airways in March for our honeymoon and have a short change in Doha.
As for where to stay - check out trip advisor for reviews of resorts, etc.
Hope she finds something she likes!

Nice problem to have! ;)
Just got back from my honeymoon a few weeks ago and would highly recommend both places we went to.
We started in Dubai for a few days, staying at the Al Qasr, in Jumeirah beach. Dubai is a mandatory stop for Emirates flights so it is a good option to stop there either on the way out or back, depending on whether you want to wind down to the escapism of the Maldives or wind up to getting back home again. From Dubai we went on to the One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives for 2 weeks. Both absolutely beautiful hotels but Dubai and the Maldives are very different kinds of places - we really enjoyed both.
If your sis looks on Tripadvisor I can tell you we have done a couple of reviews for those two hotels and gave them both 5 stars. We booked through Essential Escapes , who were really helpful and knowledgeable about the resorts.
