....Mykonos is still classed as the 'gay' Greek island?
I really, really fancy going but I can tell Mr Muck isn't keen and I'm sure its becos he thinks all the bars and clubs are aimed at the gay market.
God, I know how this sounds and I don't mean it in 'that' way at all.
We were gonna go to Paros but its not proving worth our while for one reason or another so I'm looking at other options.
We're also looking at Lefkada and Kefalonia but Mykonos just sounds like it has a better 'vibe'.

It says that Mykonos has a gay community but that most visitors aren't gay themselves. It sounds lovely i'd definately go!!

Jeez - Yes, it does attract gay people. And you know what, that is what makes the island special. People are more relaxed. There is a significant lack of meat markets that heterosexual couples usually congregate in - and shock horror!! You may even see 2 gay men being affectionate with each other!! As well as lesbian girls being affectionate with each other.
Neither me nor OH have any issues whatsoever with gay people, gay bars or anything gay, so we didnt even care if gay people went. We breathed a sigh of relief that heterosexual couples wouldnt go actually. Because of it's labelling, it keeps away the rif raff and the homophobic people ;)
I would say from your initial post - dont go to Mykonos. If your boyfriend is a typical 'Alpha Male' or an English yob (I hope he is neither) then he will not fit in - in Mykonos. It is very upmarket and sophisticated and you wont find any rockport wearing chavs hanging out there.
It has a great vibe, and if we had the money, would go back in a shot, - have been twice already and loved it both times.

Very well said.
I found the vibe in Mykonos to be million times better than the typical costa del brit club holiday, what with all the shouty lager lads.

Boyfriend isn't a typical AM, nor a chav, and asking about the culture on Mykonos isn't necessarily showing homophobic tendencies which is the implication I took from your post.
To be honest I wouldn't want to go to an island specifically aimed at one demographic, be that the gay community or the older community or even the naturist community!
The reason I asked about Mykonos was becos I'd heard that it now had a more mixed environment than before and is really beautiful island and worth checking out.
