Thailand - Rayavadee & Sala Samui

Thailand - Rayavadee & Sala Samui
  Hi
Has anyone been to either of these hotels - one in Krabi and the other in Koh Samui. any thoughts?
Thanks

rayavadee is amazing, i went there nearly 10 years ago but my cousins went back last year and assured me it's as gorgeous as ever. watch out for the coconut-throwing monkeys though

I went to the Rayavadee for my honeymoon and will say that everything about this place is top-notch. You must stay in a pavillion bungalow with a plunge pool, as they are nice and private ;)
In addition to avoiding the cute little monkey critters, be very careful if you decide to do the walk (ahem) up the steep hills behind the hotel. The trail is a combination of ropes, footholds and lots of knee work; suffice to say, I was terrified and half-thought I was going to perish four days into my marriage.
If you're looking at other places in Thailand, I recently went on a ten-day trip staying half the time at the Amanpuri (Phuket) and the other half at the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai, which is widely regarded as one of the top 10 hotels in the world, and with good reason.

Oooh am so glad to see that the Rayavadee still has good reviews - I want to go there in 2007 - it's been on my list of places to go to for 6 years now.
It has such a good reputation that I couldn't bring myself to consider going to Thailand without going there.

Jealous about the Amanpuri - I've stayed at Amankila and Amanusa in Bali and they're the most wonderful hotels.
