Hi
Does anyone have any recommendations for hotel or apartment accommodation please? We're planning to stay in the following:
Sydney (central location preferred)
Mooloolaba
Noosa
Fraser Island
Whitsunday Islands
Have never been to Aus before so all advice gratefully received. We'll be travelling with our younger daughter (17) and will be there around Easter for 3 weeks hooking up with our elder daughter who's on a 6-month travelling trip - soooo excited!!!
Thanks

Sydney hotels - It does depend on where you want to stay - Darling Harbour is a pretty popular area. It's fairly central too. There's an Ibis, a Novotel, and
Grand Mercure Apartments. The Sofitel is a bit more central, but also a bit more expensive and I think the hotels in Darling Harbour will be good enough to be honest. It's lovely round there. I stayed in Manly when I was in Sydney which a beach town. There's pubs and shops over there and Manly Pacific Hotel is right on the fantastic beach. It's 15 - 30 mins out of Sydney by ferry though so don't know if that's too far for you. Well worth a day trip though.
Fraser Island - as far as I'm aware there isn't any accommodation at all on the island. To visit the island you either go on a day trip by coach, or a 3/4 day camping trip (this is what I did) although it's pretty hard work. There's only about 2 shower blocks and 2 toilet blocks on the whole island - otherwise you have to wee in the bush  it's not that bad though! The trips go to Fraser from Hervey Bay and Rainbow Beach (I think?) There must be some hotels in these places, although the majority of the accommodation is backpackers hostels - some worse than others.... I stayed in a cockroache infested one... (thinking about it, I'm not sure how I actually got to sleep!)
Whitsunday Island - one of my favourite areas. The best way to see the islands is to book a 3/4 day trip on board a boat. Like Fraser, the accommodation is in the place where the trips go from - in this case it's Airlie Beach. If you want to stay in hotels on the islands though, you'd have to stay on Daydream Island, Hayman Island and I think Dunk island has a hotel on too.
Don't know about the other places though. Might be worth looking on hostelworld they have all sorts of accomm, not just hostels.
Hope this helps, any more q's let me know!
eta: Whitsunday Tourism Site and Solway Lass if you want to do a sailing whitsunday's trip, I can totally recommend these... they were great!

There's plenty of accommodation on Fraser Island - it's a wonderful place. We stayed at the Kingfisher Bay resort where you can book all your tours. It's not as high a standard as you might hope - it's tired and sprawling and the restaurants are nothing to write home about - but the setting is glorious and the island itself is really special.
We went a bit upmarket in Noosa and stayed at the Sebel, which is right on Hastings Street and really lovely and comfortable.
In Airlie Beach (the resort town and jumping off point for the Whitsundays) we stayed at the Portsideapartments, w hich was very friendly and really convenient.
We did the drive from Cairns down to Brisbane in May and it was lovely - you'll have a fabulous time. There's a bit about it on my rather out of date blog if you want to read a bit about our trip.

Hiya
I'm off to OZ in a few weeks for the first time :yay:
We are going at THE most expensive time, particularly in Sydney and Noosa but managed to get a good price on this accommodation over New Year which gets great reviews on Tripadvisor and is in a great location for getting around

In Noosa we are staying in a self catering lodge which I found here - http://www.grantleanoosa.com.au/
There is a hotel on Fraser, The Kingfisher Bay Resort, however I have read reviews saying it's a bit like butlins. A hotel in Hervey Bay, from where you can acess Fraser Island, is the Outrigger Resort, seems pretty good value for money.
