Reccomendations & booking on teletext/internet

Reccomendations & booking on teletext/internet
I have been looking at the deals that the internet have and what teletext have!!
We are looking at going away end of august for 14 nights and are considering going to Greece. I have heard good stuff about it, but this is from my friends.
I am going with
Partner
Son who has just turned 1
Partners brother who is 13 in october
& my brother has said he wouldnt mind comming and he's 19
Now we are after somewhere where there is loads to do, preferably have a waterpark nearby, near the beach and just want to go somewhere we have never been.
Are there any places that we should stay away from, we have been thinking cyprus as well, i have been looking at the prices are varying at £208 + which isnt bad at all.
I was thinking of phoning some numbers tomorrow and seeing what they can do and what deals they can bring up, can i state all of the above to them or do they not no much about the resorts except what there PC's tell them
Will we also def have to pay for our son??? i guess the apartment we would need would be based on 4 people sharing?
Also some that were comming up on the net gave the resot name but not hotel and said allocated on arrival are they worth staying away from or are they ok, i just wish i could see what the hotel looked like that we would be staying at.
I think i mite go get some brouchers tomorrow on greece and cyprus so that when a resort name comes up or depending what the telephone sales person can find at least i can look it up and see what it says and if its ideal for familes and not to quiet

Don't, whatever you do, go for allocation on arrival - you'll end up either at the party party party shaghouse or the Saga holiday hotel or the scummiest or the one directly over the road from the noisiest building site in town.
When you get the brochures, remember that they are ADVERTISING. Don't book anything without Googling the hotel/apartments you're thinking of for some real reviews.
Greece will be stinking hot this month - so make sure your accommodation has air-con, even if you have to pay a bit extra for it.
You'll be unlikely this late in the season to get a free place for your son. And I'd say spend as much as you can afford. Personally I loathe packages because the hotels can be rubbish, the flights are at terrible times and I can't stand the whole rep thing of some dim 23-year-old who can't speak the local language trying to sell you some grim excursion, and all that is much worse with the bargain-basement holidays.
What about seeing if you can find a last-minute booking for a villa under your own steam and book the flights independently? You'll get much more the sort of thing you want.
Above all, read a guidebook. I like the Rough Guides for an honest opinion. Hire a car for a couple of days and do your own excursions at your own pace after you've chosen what you think are the most interesting places to go - not the ones your tour operator thinks are the most interesting places. Those are inevitably built around bad restaurants, souvenir shops and not enough time at the interesting places.

Thats what i have just been looking into and have seen some villas in greece that seem to have plenty to do and you dont need a car although we were saying about getting one for a few days, especially when we get shopping, the only thing with that then is how much will the flights cost us, the villa was £295 so that works out about £590 for 2 weeks and devide that by 4 people thats £147.50 well cheap for a 2 week hol, its the flight that will bump it up i bet?????
Where would we find out about excersions and if there is a waterpark nearby??
