Hi farideh
First of all, congratulations on the weightloss. Slimming World really is a good and easy diet - I myself lost 3 stones in 9 months on it, albeit some years ago now. I shall be back on it again with a vengeance after Xmas though.:D;)
As to your question, generally the first week or so, there is a signficant loss of water, then after that it slows down,I found to 1/2 pounds a week. I must say I didn't notice the loss as 'bodily functions' either, butI am sure it was. Also if you can combine some exercise with the diet, you should lose more.
Good luck anyway. You have made a great start already. Please let us all know how you are getting on. It will be inspirational.
P.S.
If you come across some good recipes, please post them in our recipes forum. I am looking for some ........;)
Best wishes

Hi Farideh,
In a nutshell, I think of dieting in 3 stages, stage 1 of dieting is when glycogen (sugars stored in muscles and liver) are used up, and the water its held in released. Its the reason for the initial fast weight loss, (and generallywhy we weigh less in the morning before we "refuel."). Water weight loss as part of dieting is not a good sign.
If we don't "refuel" the body's glycogen stores, it leads to Stage 2when fats start being used as the primary energy source, with selective breakdown of protein - usually proteins not essential for survival, such as muscles are used first. For women, the longer the diet goes on, the more muscle will be burned, and less fat (believed to be because of the possible need to support future fertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and to help a women through menopause). The scales may show a loss, but body muscle/fatratios negatively change.
Most of us would give up before Stage 3, but that is when fat stores have depleted to the extent that muscles are rapidly depleted, and essential proteins begin breaking down and cell function degenerates. But although not to the same extent,I believe long term or yo yo dieting may have similarnegative effects on overall health, although we might not realise there's a connection with our dieting history.
On a physiological level there islittle difference between a "famine" of our ancestors, and a "diet" today. As a survival mechanism, women often start obsessing about food, craving fats and sugars etc. That is a normal evolutionary response, and a sign thata woman'sbody is in crisis famine/diet mode.Men have more muscle mass to start with, and don't have the same physiological need for sugar and fat, so tend to lose weight more easily, and have less of the cravings.
Beware the diet plans that havealternate days ofunlimited protein andunlimited carbohydrates to fill you up, as they can overwork different bodily systems onalternate days. (such as kidneys, pancreas). Also avoid ones that are too low fat, too low calorie, too low protein, or which promote low fat convenience foods and aspartame.
Dieting/famine isa major stress and can contribute to adrenal fatigue, depression, chronic fatigue, hormonal problems, immune problems etc.Its important not to overexercise if you are dieting, it could make adrenal problems much worse. Been there, done all that, bought the extra large T shirt :D
If you burn muscle mass as fuel, then when you stop dieting then you put weight back on more easily because you have less muscle mass then when you started, and muscle is more metabolically active.
So then we start stage 1 all over again...... :(
