Energy healing junkies
Looking at the various posts and threads on the Reikiforum I have noticed that a lot of people seem to learn a whole host of different energy healing systems. I find this really odd! Once I had learned Reiki I did not feel the need for anything else as everything that can ever possibly be needed spiritually can be obtained by learning Reiki. I personally think it is better to stick to one thing and use it really effectively rather than as the adage goes being a jack of all trades and master of none.
People seem to find it easier to keep looking for the answers externally rather than looking internally, which is where the answers actually reside. I think some people learn an energy healing system and because all their problems don't instantly vanish they keep searching elsewhere in the hope of finding easy answers that involve no work on themselves. Reiki is the most amazing healing system ever but it involves self healing every single day for as long as possible each day, which many people don't seem to want to do. Nothing is handed to us on a plate we have to work hard for it and by doing that we truly learn to appreciate what we have.

Hi Kashikoi
If everyone could function with Reiki then your train of thought would be accurate, however that is in reality just not the case.
Most energy modalities work on set levels of consciousness, if a person can connect with those levels of consciousness then they willbe open to the spiritual help which willenable them to progress spiritually and develop.
But if they cannot function on that level for whatever reason, then it is as much good as a car without an engine, it will look good sat on the drive but will not function.
We are all different ans we all function on different levels, in-order to progress spiritually we have to connect with either a modality that function within ourown level of consciousness, or we have to go directly to the energy and co-create something that we can function with.
But you are quite right, the answers do lie inside, sometimes we just need the right trigger to recognise that, the trigger often has to comes from outside, if not then you would not have had to take a Reiki course to realise this :-)

Hi Kashikoi,
I think that it can also depend on why you have chosen to learn and practice an energy healing modality in the first place.
I chose to become attuned to reiki because I wanted to develop my levels of self awareness and my intuitive awareness - and I think that this, rather than self healing, will always be my primary motive for any further training that I might undertake in energy healing.
Answers:
Hi all, I think that Kashikoi is partly correct in saying that some people seem to be Energy healing junkies as some people continually learn different energy systems while not practicing them fully (if at all) in order to gain enlightenment/full health etc. I have heard the phrase 'spiritual materialists' applied to people who want a wealth of spiritual knowledge and systems yet do not apply the knowledge or study the systems in depth enough to gain wisdom.
I think that when reiki (as in the system of self development practiced by Usui) is practiced properly then it really does have all the tools necessary to gain more understanding and be fully healed. The genius of the system lies in its simplicity - it teaches us discipline, self-awareness, awareness of our surroundings, compassion, focus, self-exploration and many more other qualities all through the application of simple yet powerful healing techniques and meditative practices. This is obviously true of some other systems, however, many other systems of energy healing have become unnecessarily complex, such as Shamballa reiki with an incredible 352 symbols, albeit not all are needed to heal using this system, required to acheive a connection to God or the source.
I do not agree that different systems operate on set levels of conciousness though as many systems of healing use different 'levels' of energy for different needs (although some use one unchanging level of energy and in this case I understand why people may learn different energy systems). Ultimately, there is one source of energy of which all other energies are part of and it is these levels of energy that are perceived by us when healing. This is taught in reiki (as well as some other philosophies and systems) and this is what makes reiki unique - all 'levels' of energy are available to use as one is attuned to this ultimate source of energy and with practice we can use the different levels of energy to heal and develop for specific needs.
Gotta go now. I need my fix.

Reiki uses the source of the energy from which we are all made, God if you believe in God or the source of the energy, whatever you call it makes no difference, it is all the same thing. Reiki connects you to that energy and providing you self heal every day will ensure that you progress spiritually, regardless of any 'levels of consciousness.' The only reason it would not work would be if someone had been attuned incorrectly, taught badly and thus were channelling the energy incorrectly or if the person did not self-heal. There is no higher or better source of energy than Reiki because it comes from our creator.
I think some people learn Reiki and expect their life to suddenly be great but Reiki forces you to confront yourself and your responsibilities in life. It makes your path more wonderful and also more challenging and if you are healed enough you start sacrificing some of the physical parts of your life for your spiritual fulfillment and growth. Reiki teaches you to want what you need rather than wanting what your physical body tells you it wants and I think some people find that whole prospect too scary and would prefer to keep practising lots of disciplines until some 'guru' finally tells them what they want to hear rather than what they need to know. I think by practising so many different energy healing disciplines people lose sight of what they are actually doing it for and rather thanlistening to theanswers they are given, theygo looking in all the wrong places for what they want to be told. People avoid the truth rather than accepting it.
Precisely the point I am making.
Yes it does. The only reason I can see why someone would feel it did not resonate with them is because they don't want to take responsibility for themselves or have the beliefs that have been socially conditioned into them, challenged by their own intuition.
I have never found anything that couldn't be helped with Reiki. There are so many energy healing systems nowadays and many of them just seem to be made up or originate from dubious characters who don't possess the kind of enlightenment and humility that made Mikao Usui such a great healer and human being. Anyone can make up a system of healing and say 'I am channelling energy from a flower or the sun or the moon or mars!' It doesn't necessarily mean it has any validity or works. I think many of them are made up just to make more money because new modalities generate some hype around them and all the complementary therapy junkies rush to try this 'new and improved' treatment or course. It's the same with the pharmaceutical industry, they bring out drugs that are no different to the old ones so they can patent them and make more money by proclaiming that it has greater benefits than the previous one. Spirituality has becomea fad where people think they can claim to be spiritual without leading spiritual lives.

Until they arrive at a point in their lives where they"know" they need to be.
I have taken all the reiki levels, but i was drawn to the reiki jin kei do also.... i didnt know why ?, i just knew i had to take it.
But WOW[sm=speechless-smiley-040.gif]!!!, im glad i did, to me reiki jin kei do defines reiki !( inmy opinion). but again jin kei do is more of a deeper spiritual path, healing with wisdom and compassion, but the energy is so much more stronger and a very personal feel to it, i can only say that" i cannot describe it", which i understand is the correct thing to say.In the jin kei do There are different hand positions, and to go further, treating the subtle body!. that the reiki doesnt offer., many meditations that strengthen the energy, much much more, but to me it was right for me!!!!!!
I amon a deep spiritual path, others may be further alongothers maybe happy where they are in life.
Nothing wrong in that!.
But i feel that people will stop a a point where they know its right for them.
Reiki is excellent for me, and very strong,........so why did i want to explore further?,i didnt know...i just knew.
I now "know", inside that i no longer have the desire to pursue energies after the jin kei do.as i know this is where i am in my life.and my path no doubt will take a turn to where ever i am led next in the spiritual life.
But yes!, i feel you do get a minority who tries everything, and maybe they need to!!!. until they learn to see theres nothing better than the original usui shiki ryohoand the traditional lineage of venerable seiji takamori jin kei do.

Reiki does not, I repeat does not work for everyone, if it had as some are claiming all of the energy connection in it that are in existence and those that have not been conceived yet, then every person who practises Reiki would also be able to practise all of the other energy systems using that systems energy.
Now if that was true then why would anyone take further energy connections???
Also if Reiki was the universal energy connection people are claiming, then why are there so many people around who cannot function with it on any level, but they can and do function with some of the other energy modalities????
It is a serious misconception to believe, that there is only one source and if there is only one source thenthere must only be one energy, there is however a spiritual oneness but that does not equate to one spirit.
All energy workers can and do partake of that spiritual oneness, but does that make all energy workers the same person.
I personally am connected to quite a few different sources of spiritual energy and they are different in many ways to each other, just because you can use them in healing sessions doe's not make them the same as each other.
Each person must find the correct energy connection that is right for them, be it directly though the energy BEings or through the many varied energy connection that are available to them, what works for some doe's not necessarily work for everyone.
Above all else we need to be open to what we have not yet discovered or conceived, if we do not believe it is there we will surely never find it ;-)

But i mainly refer to the never ending list of reiki's with a name added !. a member did a search of all the reiki's and an never ending list came up. where do you choose ??and many sound a little to good to be true !.but energy junkies will want to try them to see what they feel from the attunements, which of course is something they will have to learn from mistakes!!..some maybe real?? ...but some can be seen as money making schemes.
But i feel that we all know the original lineage of usui shiki ryoho is the undiluted teachings, refering to energy junkies there are many reiki 'swith a fancy name following it,that proclaim to be as good as usui, but many become misleaded to these so called energies.
Of course there are other many real energies, and many will seek out what is best for them, i also am a spiritual healer, but only use this method with very ill people.
But energy junkiestrying anything that has the name reiki on the end is what i feelcan be misleading.

Yes, Reiki can do it all. The car can do it all. But it doesn't suit everyone.
Equally, the same car, with three different driving instructors, working with a variety ofstudent, could have three very different outcomes. One has a good pass rate, one has an average success rate, one tries so hard all the time, but just can't seem to get it right. For one, the car is an extension of themselves, perfection, natural. For the next its fine, but the mechanics get in the way. For the last, he just can't connect to it, its awkward, and so he is unable to pass on his extensive knowledge and experience because the vehicle is wrong for him.
(more controversial perhaps, but just as relevant).
Now, "car" is perfect. All cars are "car", but appear different.
The teacher is perfect, but has each has varying levels of connection witheach type of car, which are all still"car".
