Musicians and protection
Hi there I am looking for some advice please. My daughter is a musician who, like a lot of performers, gets very nervous before a performance. She is looking for some form of protection against this, I am very new to crystals and would like to hear what you think a suitable crystal would be.
Many thanks
Chris

hiya footwizard,
I am new to this crystal malarkey too but I have gone through "The Crystal Bible" and picked out the entries which might help a performer most..... probably the best idea is to go with your daughter to a shop selling crystals and let her see and handle the stones: she will pick the one(s) most likely to help her, I'm sure. But in case you are interested here are some possibilities:
variscite: "This stone does away with pretence, enabling you to show yourself to the world exactly as you are. It calms nervousness and brings a peaceful heart [...] It helps in self-expression and the communication of ideas."
topaz: "Topaz releases tension at any level [...] helps you to discover your own inner riches [...] [it] is particularly useful for those engaged in the arts [...] Topaz is an excellent emotional support - it stabilises the emotions and makes you receptive to love from any source."
fishtail selenite: "provides deep healing for the nerves. It is extremely calming, stabilising emotions and defusing tension."
muscovite: "disperses insecurity, self-doubt and clumsiness [...] eliminates anger and nervous stress to bring flexibility at all levels of being [...] By allowing you to see yourself as others see you, muscovite aids in changing the image presented to the outside world [...] It facilitates the clear expression of thoughts and feelings. Physically, muscovite improves your appearance. It imparts sheen to the hair and a sparkle to the eyes. It helps the body to achieve its most appropriate weight." [I must get me some of that!]
magnesite: "brings a calming effect to the emotions, promoting tolerance for emotional stress. It supports people who are nervous and fearful and helps them to overcome irritability and intolerance."
I hope that's useful. I'm sure your daughter knows this already but all performers worth their salt get stage nerves, the adrenalin helps give an edge to their performance and the day to worry is the day you don't feel nervous!
Do let us know how you and she get on, won't you!

Its not so much protection she needs, just a means of keeping her feet on the ground.. I use a geode pendant for all my performances it really works, keeps you cool, calm and collected. And they don't cost much;);)

Hi Footwizard,
I'm a musician myself and I find Lapis Lazuli absolutely invaluable. It opens up the communication channels and the throat chakra and really helps me sing my truth out. If she can spend five minutes in the bathroom before she's on stage, or at the start of the first set, and just completely clear her head, it will help her enormously. Of course, hematite is the classic stone for grounding as it's all about magnetic earth energy, but I really recommend Lapis. Tell her to send down roots of light before she goes on stage, and also to surround herself in a bubble of light (she can do this visualisation in the bathroom!). Remember you can always send her light from the audience by visualising it coming down into her crown chakra and surrounding her.
The more gigs you do, the easier it gets on the nerves! The only remedy is unfortunately lots of practise. And perhaps a beer.
Hope that helps!

One problem with reading books like The Crystal Bible is that sometimes the stones are not easy to come across. especially the varicite, muscovite, fishtail.
I would suggest that you try Lapiz Lazuli as has been suggested and add some Snowflake Obsidian too for security and confidence boosting. A small tumblestone in the pocket will work wonders :)
