Massage oil for pregnancy

My partnet has bought me some massage oil to use in labour (which should be about 20 weeks away but its good to be prepared!) which contains Clary Sage, Lavender and Jasmine. Is this safe to use? Also, on the website where he got it from, it says that can help to regulate contractions. Given what is in it, do you think that might be true?
I dont want you to think that I am doubting the product, I just want to be safe

Hi Lilac
I was taught that the oils safe to use when you are actually in labour are quite different than those which are safe during pregnancy and shouldnt be confused.
Suggestions and uses we were given for labouroils include:
Clary Sage - to help labour pains
Jasmine -to helputerine contractions
Grapefruit - to help fatigue
Eucalyptus - for cooling pain relief
Lavender / Rose - to soothe
Hope this helps,

Hi Lilac
The oils you mentioned are good ones to use during labour, but please do not use them until you do go into labour. Clary Sage and Jasmine can both induce early labour if used during pregnancy.
It is a good idea to have the oils ready as not all hospitals will have then on the ward. It is also a good idea to say that you will be using essential oils in your birth plan as some midwives are not always open to using complimentary therapies. I used essential oils myself during my third pregnancy and labour. Its hard to compare labours because being a third meant things moved faster anyway, but it was my shortest and least stressful labour. I like to think this is partly due to the use of essential oils. Every time I smell Jasmine now it reminds me of the first time I held my baby so that in itself made it worth while. Good luck and do let us all know how things go.
