I use IPTI they cover a whole range of Therapies. For £15 you can have your name put in their Directory of therapists. They are a family run firm and very helpful - I recommend them to all my Reiki students.
For more details and some interesting info for therapists, see my web site www.Reikiregister.co uk (and use the forum - please)

Hi Paul
I use SMG insurance to cover all of my therapies, possibly not the cheapest from what I have read on these forums. http://www.smg-professional-risks.co.uk/

I use the HPAI in Cardiff - details in another topic about insurance for Reiki - they charge about £22.00 just for insurance but you do have to join their organisation (Cost corrently icluded in the insurance amount) They also supply, if required, a membership badge for about £ 3.00 that has the Reiki Kanji on it. (The badge had an orange background).
Oh yes you MUST be a level 2 Reiki practitioner to join.
Hope this helps

Hi to everyone,
I have just joined today and was trying to find out about obtaining insurance to practice Reiki and I tried the website for the HPAI and I could not get any contact details, the website just kept me going round in circles.
Have I missed something, or does the internet really dislike me?! :(

Answers:

can i ask? i thought you could only get reiki insurance if you were part 2 qualified? am i wrong? can i start treating now?

Answers:

Reiki I is to self heal and to treat family and friends but not really to practice, then from Reiki II onwards you can treat the public.

I think this is one of them myths that is misleading.
Although I agree that you do need to be reasonably well versed at channelling the energies to charge people for treatments but someone who regularly gives treatments at level one will probably be better than a level two or master come to that who very seldom give treatments.
The levels are meaningless unless you regularly apply the energy and a level one can do everything that any one else can do at any other level if they apply themselves.
IMO it has more to do with where you are at on your own personal journeys with the energy rather than some man made level prohibition and those who teach will tell you we learn more from our novice healers than anywhere else ;-)

I couldn't agree more Paul. Well said!

I see what your saying and see both sides of this.
Some reiki healers at level I are probably as capable of giving a treatment as good as if not better than those at higher levels, my point was that with most reiki federations/organisations, they ask you to be level II and upwards to be listed on their sites as a practitioner.
I don't think as one of my first postings that I came across too well, sorry.

Hi Moonshadow,
Welcome to the Reiki forum. Thank you for joining in the debate! I'm sure others here have understood your post, it's just that there are a lot of confusing ideas about insurance at the moment. I agree that as you mentioned certain associations insist you are a level 2 before you can get insurance. I also understand that level 1 students could be as capable of giving treatment if they use the energy a lot, so don't worry!
Look forward to seeing you around the board,

Hi All
The HPAI is run by part-time volunteers and is somewhat slow in replying to contacts.
Contact can be made with Ray Williams (Chairman) at ray@roathcourt.freeserve.co.uk
or by post to
HPAI

Cardiff

Tel: 029 2046 5171
They do have a website at www.hpai.me.uk BUT there aren't any contact details on it[:o]
I believe that Membership and Insurance for healers (Spiritual, Crystal and Reiki Level 2 and above) currently costs £ 20.00 (Twenty Pounds) per annum.

Answers:

Thank you so much for that and I will give them a try now.
The other insurance quotes I have seen are from £80 upwards which is a bit steep if you only have a couple of sessions a week from home!
Thanks again for you advice

Hey I don't want to appear a pillock but Reiki 1 is for one to be made aware of the energy and to self heal and to practice on friends and family, Reiki 2 is practitioner level where you can become a 'professional' .
If you have been told you can practice after level 1 and get insurance , I think you have been ill advised.Reiki is not a quick fix alternative therapy and I am constantly amazed at the lack of information reiki 1 & 2 therapists are given before I meet them and share experiences. Don't be too much in a hurry to be out there charging fees. its a long learning curve and there are some strange things that can happen

Hi Steve
So its ok to do levels 1+ 2 in a weekend and set up in practice but not to be a level one for a couple of years and decide you are ready to go into practice?
Who might I ask has the right to determine where someone is at on their own personal journeys with the energy and tell them they can or cant practice?
By what criteria do you differentiate between a Reiki 1 and a Reiki 2 to state one is for self healing and practice on friends and the other is for treating others? what is the difference between giving healing to friends for free and charging someone apart from the money?
How do you define professionalism as far as energy healing is concerned?
IMO there are no rules with energy healing apart from the ones we place on ourselves, no restriction what so ever and no contra indications, if you can channel the energy effectively and consistently then you can heal and are in a position to charge people for it regardless of if you have any so called formal attunements or what level you are at.
I do totally agree with your amazement at what is taught or should I say what is omitted in the teaching of level ones and twos, but then I suppose if most people accepted the fact that they can do everything at level one a master can do then would they pay for the other levels?
