Reiki and Shiatsu
Hi everyone
I have just done a Shiatsu course, and I can see why the two can be combined, my only question to anyone more experienced with combining the two would be, how does one go about this!
For one Shiatsu is done on the floor! Whilst Reiki is done on a table!
I thought about doing Shiatsu first for 1/2 hour, then taking the client to the table, and doing reiki for 1/2 hour.
Because if I did this the other way round, the client would be very relaxed and would be a shame to move them!
Having said that by doing Reiki first it would warm the body, or at least the troubled areas, and shiatsu would then be more effective, having warmed those areas first!
Sorry I feel like I'm babbling! Hope this makes sense!
Oh I was wondering if anyone had come across any 'free shiatsu manuals' online, I found the reiki manuals that someone posted were fabulous!
:D
Thanks guys
love and light

Hi Wesley,
Why not tune into Reiki while you do your Shiatsu treatments and give your clients a double dose.
Also, the only difference between a table and the floor is the level ;) - oh yes, and the fact that you can't fall off the floor:D.
You will find that Reiki will combine with any therapy and the moment you commence treating a client the Reiki will flow - if you want it to. The flow of Reiki combined with your Shiatsu treatment will make the whole experience absolutely monumental for your clients.
Do not be afraid to experiment with Reiki on a table, on the floor, in a chair - in fact anywhere! Also on it's own or in combination with any other therapy. Reiki fits in with and enhances everything.
Above all, please do not worry.
I wish you wonderful treatments and

Hi Wesley
I know very little about Shiatsu, other than having a treatment once, but otherwise endorse everything Paul has said about Reiki working with other therapies, and anywhere.
Reiki out of doors is great, too, and I have heard some Reiki people say they prefer to work on the floor/ground because that way they are in closer contact with Mother Earth - literally - and Reiki is an earth energy.
The only thing I would add is that, if you are giving Reiki on the floor, just ensure your own physical comfort while so doing.
Pity you're in USA and I hate flying - it sounds like a brilliant combination. ;-) Best of luck with it,

Thanks Paul
I guess I was worrying about something that my shiatsu teacher said that when doing shiatsu it is done on the floor, because all of the body's energy is used, whilst on a table only the top half of the body's energy is used, although I can't see how, but she's the teacher!
I was also wondering that the table would be a better option, with regards to the practitioners back and posture, particularly working on a few clients consecutively! I find that if I'm not careful with my posture, I end up having back pain after a few sessions!

Hi again Wesley
I guess we've "crossed in the post". The point you make about finishing up with a bad back if you're doing Reiki on the floor, is precisely the point I was trying to get across. But I didn't want it to sound like I was telling you what to do!
I cannot make any comment on what your shiatsu teacher said because I'm not qualified to do so.
Blessings,

Hi Holistic
Thankyou for both your replies, I guess what I need to do in just trust in my #1 Reiki precept and "Dont worry" and I'll just see what works for me and the client!
I must admit, I prefer the table idea, other than the floor!
I'll keep you posted on this one!
Love light and reiki blessings to you!
