No wheat.. No sugar . .

Hi there . .I've been advised to cut out totally wheat & sugar...amongst other things which I'm supposedly allergic to.
A Candida type diet - any suggestions as to how the breakdown of carbohydrates, fruit etc contribute to sugar.
Some days very easy other days I find very challenging ..I have found a sweet spread that i have with nat yogurt when deseprate :D
but to eliminate the chocolate cravings seems impossible..does it get easier after a time :D
Any nutrtional advice, experiences etc .
I think I read in another post about Colodial silver affecting candida type bacteria, anyone any more info or experience with the silver liquid
Many Thanks

Hi Prerana,
I too have been on a wheat, sugar and dairy free diet for some time now.
Initially, for teh first 10 days or so, I found it extremely difficult, but at the same time noticed improvement in my health, so persevered. After about a month the cravings were much less.
I have found sugar to be the hardest out of the three. I cut out fruit as well, and would sneak some sultanas [8D] for the sweetness.
As for chocolate, I have allowed myself greens organic chocolate only, and one or two little squares a day (not every day, but I mean just when I feel like it).
Now I hardly ever feel the need for chocolate, only 2 times in a month (cyclic/hormones) and I do have 3-4 little squares in those times;)
I also take a few supplements to help, such as Vit C, MSM, Cellfoods (an oxygen booster), they are the main ones. I have been given a zapper and I am sure that helps too.
Once you candida is under control you won't crave so much, so then you will probably feel ok having fruit and the extra bit of chocolate etc
One last thing, don't be too hard on yourself either :D

I have heard that colloidal silver is a poison to the body longterm, so please research it well! L-glutamine is safe and actually good for immunity and healing, and will kill sugar cravings if taken before meals. I too struggle to avoid sugar and refined foods. I find it hardest when with friends or at parties, and everyone pushes the sweets. Sugar is very addicting, and seems to be in everything these days. I find avoiding all sweet things helps, so no artificially sweetened things either. Good luck. There was just an excellent post here with all the bad things sugar can do to the body. Good for motivation.

Hi guys,
Don't forget Stevia is a good sugar substitute and much healthier. ;) Make sure you avoid sweeteners too as aspartame is probably worse for you than sugar. I find Grapefruit Seed Extract useful for Candida, and Boots do a homeopathic Candida remedy.
I'm fortunate that I do not crave chocolate, chips are my downfall. [:@]
No wheat is hard as it is hidden in so many things. JB Brusnick do a good wheat free cake but it has sugar crystals on the top!
I find it easier to avoid wheat and dairy when I eat Thai/Chinese style food, but then you have to watch out for the MSG.
Neways do a supplement called Curb which is supposed to stop you from craving sweet things, but I haven't tried it as I don't have that problem.

Hi Prerana
First off, I'm not qualified to give any sort of medical advice!
However, about a year ago I had a whole bunch of problems and went to a qualified nutritionist, who suggested a diet of no wheat, no sugar, plus no dairy and no yeast either. BTW, problems were caused by what the GP had prescribed - lol in a way, but actually not funny.
She also sold me a copy of a really excellent book, Cooking Without by Barbara Cousins, published by Thorsons, ISBN 0-7225-4022-1. The first chapters describe various medical conditions, including Candida, followed by the recipes. Some are so delicious, I still use them, although I do not need to follow such a strict diet now.
Tip from me: If a recipe calls for cooked brown rice and you want it in a hurry, use brown rice FLAKES instead, just soak them in hot water for a few mins.
An Internet search on Candida was also useful.
PM me if you want to.
Best of luck with it!

I subscribe to her newsletter (from USA), but not the online Yahoo thing - when I tried that, I found 83 emails in my Inbox the next morning!!!

Hi Pre,
I've always had a sweet tooth but when I went wheat and dairy free I found that it got worse. Apparently, I was craving the milk in the choc.
However, when I did the EFT course the other week we tapped for choc addiction and I haven't wanted it since (3 1/2 weeks which I think is about my longest ever). I certainly don't miss it and in fact I would go as far as to say I find it distasteful.
Give it a go, you'll be amazed!!

You're most welcome!
I think I must have been a squirrel in a past life - I hoard. Bits of info, bits of paper.
Re the earlier posting about Chinese food being full of sugar: To say nothing of the MSG.
