I am very new to crystals but my little booklet on some of them says:
Quartz red geode - astral protection, rather like an astral fortress
Quartz red stalagtitic - aids in deep personal clearing work, gets to the root of the issue
The booklet is from a lovely shop in the Sussex Downs called Litlington Crystals and they have many years of experience in working with all types of crystals, their crytals have the most amazing energy.

The book I referred to is...Love is in the Earth (A kaleidoscope of crystals)
Author: Melody... ISBN No: 0-9628190-3-4
It is a very comprehensive book...its known as the Crystal Healers Bible, it is absolutly full of information...but it can (& in my case often does) blind you with science.
Some other books that are also very good are as follows:
Crystal User's Handbook
Author: Judy Hall....ISBN No:1-84181-159-9
This, in my opinion...is a brilliant book full of useful info' and some lovely pictures...nice & easy to help identify various crystals
Crystal Power, Crystal Healing (The complete Handbook)
Author: Michael Gienger...ISBN No: 0-7137-26677-6
Again colour pictures to help identify crystals...gives a little about the Mineralogy & Mythology for each Crystal
Crystal Awareness
Author: Catherine Bowman...ISBN No: 0-87542-058-3
A lovely little book if you are just beginning to learn about crystal healing or just want to use them for 'self use'

I have lent mine out I will have get it back
Its got a wizard an crystals on the fount it had something about energy in this plain but really was not much two lines
The other one is in storage and is not as good as the one I lent out
And looked in lallymoons and nothing
I was told it was red quarts I don’t really now
Ill try and get a pic and may be you can tell me

is found in the formation of sceptres & standard crystals. It has a raspberry tinge due to the inclusion Lepidocrocite, Hematite or Goethite, & Amethyst. Many thanks for your advise on the books, it is really helpful. I have recently aquired a beautiful piece of amethyst rose (shaped like an angels wing) I know its cheeky but do you have any information on what its properties are likely to be (until I get a book that tells me). I was really drawn to this crystal but have very little information about it.

You've got me on that one...unless of course it's Amethyst & Rose Quartz together, in which case your crystal will have the properties of both crystals in one...
maybe someone else may be able to help regarding your Amethyst Rose...and enlighten us both

Its just amethyest with no other crystal with it. I wish I could picture it but don't have the software to do so. It apparently is also known as angels wings (it looks just like that) and amethyest roses (but doesn't contain rose quartz). It is very beautiful and has a very powerful energy I think. It is very fragile and looks the same colour as your picture but much thinner and feathered almost, and shaped just like an angels wing (well the wings you image)

Regarding your Amethyst rose...I have asked a few other crystal therapist about this crystal for you today...even popped into the local (goodie) shop...that have loads of books etc; about crystals...but have drawn a total blank...the only thing any of us can come up with is that it is possibly known by another name...(an example of this is Peackock Ore but also known as Chalcopyrite) which name would you remember, can you go back to where you got it and ask them?
