Nlp
HI
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I suffer from depression and low self esteem. I have decided to go and see a NLP practioner on Friday. Now I am really scared and unsure of what to expect. Has anyone had a positive experience with NLP and espicially seeing a NLP practioneer.
Thanks

Hello
I'm new too and was just introducing myself when I saw your post.
My partner works extensively within the 'world' of NLP and over the past few years I have heard alot about it. I would say that what you are about to experience (hopefully with a toppo practitioner) will be amazing, effective and ground breaking for you if it is something you have had no experience of so far.
As far as many, many people are concerned it is a far improved form of counselling. It doesn't expect you to sit down and re-live any old stuff that will only bring it all to the fore again - it will give you tools for your brain to 'short-cut' to positive associations and experiences. Trample down some new paths!
I haven't had any formalised NLP counselling myself so I would be interested to hear how it goes!
Good luck on Friday - I'm sure it will all go well.

Thanks for your reply. I found my NLP season to be very interesting, The person I went to does a lot of work with the Universities in my area so I am pretty sure he is the real deal.
He definitly knows his stuff, Although you don't go over past experience extensively you do work with the physical effects they have on you. I learnt that you lock your body in a certain posture when you relive negative situations from your past. You do it normally on an unconscious level. Then we react to the way a memory makes us feel like it is seperate to us and we have no control over it, we come passive to our emotions and let them take over us. So then we allow ourselves to get ingrossed in emotions as if they're not a part of us and within our control. When actually all emotions and feelings come from you and are within your control.
We did lots of exercises working out in literal terms where the emotions were and how they feel, also how to visualise them in order to change them.
I also learnt if your anxious you are very vague in your speech patterns. something really interesting is that if you suffer from depression or Anxiety you talk from your throat and not your diaphram.
My NLP guy told me that I need to learn to Juggle and I mean Juggle as in literally throw three balls in the air at the same time. Apparently it gets diffrent hemispheres of your brain workimg
The session went for 2 1/2 hours so was pretty intense. I was also set some homework one part was to learn to juggle, other parts involved reading numerous books. If anyone wants to know about the books just post and I will do my best to let you know what they are all about.
I think some of the techniques he used were verging on the crazy but you have to be open minded. Overall if they any one out there who wants to make a change but like me has no idea how to do it I think NLP could help.
