Question re reiki

Hiya,
I hope noone will mind me jumping in the deep end here and posing a question of sorts.
I had a client the other day who had received a friendly smack on the head, and he came to see me not long after (within the hour) for a reiki session. He felt like he needed something to calm him down and felt his neck and spine had been impacted. During the treatment at one point when I had my hands on his lower back, he said he felt intense fear and it felt like he might hyperventilate. When I removed my hands from that area he calmed down again. At the end of the treatment he was shaking and white faced, and after a little while talking he regained the colour in his face. I thought he was in shock. I gave him water.
At the end we thought it would be good for him to also get a medical practitioner to look at him and he spent the next few hours in A & E, and was diagnosed with concussion from the friendly blow to head.
I am wondering if anyone here has ever given reiki and found the person has had an adverse reaction? I would have hoped that reiki might have alleviated the blow to the head, and who knows, maybe it did. Concussion can take hours to manifest I think, but I guess I am interested in other reiki practitioners thoughts about this sort of scenario?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

the.cha IMHO The giving of reiki had nothing to do with it. Concussion can manifest itself in many ways and at any time.
Your action was straight from the textbook. Well Done

Energylz Also bear in mind that for some conditions to heal they have to go through their healing process which may include seemingly getting worse first. I have treated someone with a broken toe and immediately after the treatment the bruising went much darker and spread wider, but the client was able to walk on the toe the following day and the bruising had almost gone. Previous broken toes she has had (and she's has broken some before) have resulted in, according to herself, days of slow bruising that took a couple of weeks before she could walk again without feeling any pain.
Of course in the case of concussion it is obviously best the person seeks medical attention as soon as possible.

mercy Thanks Cha and Energylz,
I'm relieved to read your thoughts on this but I guess I felt a bit shaken myself by his shaking and whiteness, and whilst I can accept that was the effect of the concussion, I had felt the reiki would have been more affective in countering the effects of the blow.

Moonfeather From a cranio sacral point of view as well as reiki, I would suggest that your client experienced a release of energy from his lower spine which was directly related to the impact on the head, the trauma having travelled down the dural tube and seated in the lower area. It's also entirely possible that he released some older trauma at the same time, relating to the sense of fear and hyperventilation.
Well done, in any case.

mercy Hiya Moonfeather,
That's extremely interesting to me, i.e. what you've said about the experience he had in the lower spine. Thanks for that info. I do hope it's released something for him. I get such good results with reiki this treatment really got me to thinking about what's going on.
Co-incidentally, he has just been in touch and is fine now and seems quite happy with things.
I've been giving treatments for years, but to be honest with you, I don't really understand how it works. I know all the guff about 'universal energy' and so on, but from a scientific point of view, it's never really been tested has it? i.e. in a laboratory. I know from experience how effective it is, but I can't ever guarantee a good result. Know what I mean?

Mercy

Moonfeather Really glad to hear the man is okay. Maybe the accident happened to allow him that release, who knows?
As for scientific testing... actually, there have been tests on healing abilities and results but don't ask me for details cos reiki doesn't help my memory, lol.
I know what you mean about not guaranteeing a good result, but as I often say - the one thing I can guarantee about a treatment is that you will feel relaxed afterwards. Anything else is a bonus. ;) That's what makes reiki interesting, because you never know what you will get, except that it will be for the good. In the end, that all we can ask for, imho.
