Melissa oil quality
Hi,
I was wondering about the quality of some Melissa oil I have. I don't know much about oils and an aromatherapist was telling me the other day that sometimes suppliers dilute the Melissa, or mix it with a cheaper oil like lemongrass. On the bottle it says 'Melissa (blend)' and is from Amphora Aromatics Ltd.
Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

Hi,
Melissa is one of the most adulterated essential oils on the market. The plant Melissa Officinalis has a very high water content making the oil yeild very low. The label is titled "blend" - speaks for itself really.
The price will reflect it's purity. A 10ml bottle of quality Melissa essential oil should cost somewhere around the £70 mark.
Always buy from a reputable supplier, if it's cheap it's more than likely poor quality and possibly synthetic or nature identical (made up of seperate components).
I've been an aromatherapist for over 10yrs and ALWAYS buy ALL my essential oils from Alan Howell www.shechina.co.uk .
