"What Makes Us So Different?"
"We use Active Reiki healing to deal directly with the cause of your condition. This means that we channel Reiki energy at the correct frequency to counteract the presenting health problems. This is far more effective than passive Reiki practiced by many Reiki practitioners, where the Reiki healer acts as an inert channel, allowing the energy to define it's own course in the body, without any consideration for the clients particular conditions. We are here to provide you a service so if you come to us with a specific problem, that is exactly what we will work on!"
So my understanding from this is that Dawn and Andrew:
- can consciously channel specific frequencies of Reiki energy that will specifically cure diseases within the human body
- know what is best for the patient
- are more effective than other Reiki channels
Is my understanding correct?

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for your interest in Active Reiki Healing. We practice Usui Reiki, which is a healing system used to directly treat any condition. This is how itwas used originally and this is how we use and teach it. Themethod works by channelling energy at the frequency needed by the condition being treated. This directly stimulates repairand recovery of the condition. There is scientific evidence now to support this method, whichwas not available in Usui-sensei's day.
What is best for any client with a physical illness or injury, or emotional or spiritual trauma is to be healthy and well. It is not too difficult as a Reiki therapist to work outif a client has a torn ligament and comes to us for treatment, the best we can do for them is to treat the torn ligament and to help them to recoverthe best we can.The same goes for any illness or injury, as Reiki therapists the best we can do is to treat the client's conditions to help them to recover.
Any Reiki practitioner that channels the correct frequency to treat a condition directly will always be more effective than a Reiki practitioner that does not. This is not something that can be argued about really as this is simply scientific fact. If a condition, say a broken bone for example, that needs 7Hz to stimulate bone growth and repair gets energy at 7Hz it will repair, if it gets energy at any other frequency it will not. It is pretty simple really.
I hope this helps you to understand more fully what Usui Reiki really is. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask us, we are always happy to share good knowledge.

Have to say that I don't like all the flashing on the site. Made me feel quite odd - I imagine it may not be good for anyone with a history of epilepsy.
I don't really know what they're saying. I do know that a lot of practitioners prefer to use "hands-off" and continue with the general (Hayashi taught?) series of hand positions. Perhaps they are referring to the use of hands-on and byosen scanning to pick up any problem areas coupled with the intent to use Reiki on a specific area - like the "laser" treatment .
Won't be spending much time on that site though..

My post obviously crossed here! I thought that was what the site was referring to and I do practice Usui Reiki - I think it's important that we use the original techniques and encourage our students to do the same. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay on the site long enough to peruse it fully due to the flashing effects.

I would be very interested in seeing a list of books (a brief list, nothing intense. English/Nihongo) that support the frequency claims. I have read "Energy Medicine: The Scientific Basis" by James Oschman, many books byLeon Chaitow and study Qigong material released by Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming*.
Do you currently measure the frequencies generated by yourselves (and possibly your students) with any particular EMF dectors and gaussmeters? If so, which ones (and what website are they sold)?
I do respect the direction you are going with Reiki. Based on my readings, it's in alignment with the directionUsui would have liked to see it grow, and definitely Dr. Hayashi would have as well.

* Recently Dr. Yang has released four excellent DVD's titled "Understanding Qigong". In this series he addresses the scientific theories supporting Eastern Meridian theory / Qigong. Two more DVD's will be released by the end of this year.

If I recall correctly (the discussion was many moons ago) Dawn and Andrew were somewhat involved themselves in the commissioning (if that's the right word) of the scientific research into the area of frequencies of energy and Reiki. At the time it was something that was in the pipeline, but as it now seems that the research has been done, it would be interesting to see the results.

Thank you for pointing that out, we're changing it so it doesn't do that any more.
We were looking at setting upa scientific study. We got a positive response from Southampton University and Imperial Colege London, who were interested in providing academic support, but the overall financial cost was prohibitive. We did contact a number of groups for possible funding, but we had to put it on a back burner for a while as we have been writing a number of books, three of which are being published early next year. We are working on our next books at the moment. All of our time is taken up with our writing and our Reiki work at present.
Hi Steve, thank you for your positive comments, we do try to be as respectful as we can of the traditions of Usui Reiki Ryoho and we try to teach as much as we can in the spirit of Usui-sensei. We feel Reiki is the most amazing healing system and as such we believe as Reiki teachers we need to be as thorough and professional as we can.I think the best way to promote Reiki to the general public and to the medical profession is by being knowledgable and professional and working in an ethical and effective way that accepts we cannot cure everyone, but we should try to cure everyone.
We got most of our information from research papers rather than books. I think I posted a list of the particular studies we refer to in our manuals on the HP forum a while ago. I also think I emailed a list to some of the HP members a while back, butI cannot remember which ones. I'll try to find a copy and pm it to you when i get a chance. At the moment I'm working flat out to get the manuscript ready for the publisher's deadline. It's good to see fellow Reiki people interested enough in Reiki to ask questions and to research the subject.

I have always termed Reiki passive because the person receiving Reiki “client comes in and is normally passive” Like you mentioned the client just lays back and receives.
I have termed SKHMand All-Love an Active healing because the client take full responsibility and actively participates in the whole healing process. The foundation of Western Reiki is to become like an energy channel that channels energy to a client, except during and some attunements. This is what I would define
as a passive approach. In essence it is like a car pulling up to petrol station and getting a top up.
With All love the approach it to just open your own channel and with intent and support have the client open their own channel, that way they have a direct connection rather than use an intermediary. Then with both parties actively working with focused intent on a specific problem area, the energy block can be identified and the energy blockage which causes the condition can be transformed.

Interesting, I have personally never seen a Reiki manual with anatomy and physiology, pathology and all the other studying that would be required to correctly asses disease and know its nature to the extent that would be required to know how to treat it.
Personally I don't think I could get my head round that amount of studying, what is it about seven years to be on par witha medical Dr, because that is the amount of studying required to do what is being implied here, personally I think I will just stick with traditional energy healing and keep it simple ;-)

That's because Usui was not a doctor and not as academic as Westerners like to believe. He wanted to help heal others but that level of academic mentality was not present in his makeup, nor were scientific papers available to him. The desire to help others heal was present with great strength.
One book you may find of interest to read is Usui Reiki Hikkei. Usui did identify each vertebrae of the spine and organs as related to meridian theory and I suspect wanted to make associations to the new anatomy being introduced to his culture in that time (what Westerners understand as anatomy - the specific organs et all).
Hayashi's Reiki Manual built upon Usui's manual but as mentioned above, most are not so academically inclined preferring the anesthetic results of "belief" rather than science.
Reiki wa Daichimo Deru by Fumio Ogawa was much easier for the public to digest and only discussed very superficial aspects of Eastern anatomy (meridian theory).
Others received and were awakened by Reiki and went on to greatly expand the system. One might ask if one is completely awakened to Reiki and then authors a book and transmits the same energy to others but does not call it Reiki, is it Reiki? (Can it be argued that if a manual therapy technique can not be traced directly back to Mathias Roth, is it valid massage???) I'm sure that can be a good debate. Some academics were awakened by Reiki and went on to awaken others who write deeply philosophical spiritual books where anatomy and its relation to the spirit body is discussed. I'm translating one such series of books now. A very basic sample image is attached below from "Dai Reikai" where specific points of the body are illustrated (and later explained in greater detail):
I am not aware of any Western Reiki author who has been motivated enough or even capable of providing basic anatomy & physiology instruction in their teachings. That may be one of the reasons why Reiki is gradually losing respect in surrounding communities. Chiropractors I know who have become Reiki Masters have done so out of client interest and demand - it looks good on their resume to those who are interested in Reiki but when it comes to holding any sort of theoretical discussion about it, shoulders are shrugged.
Fifteen or so years ago Hospice organizations loved to have Reiki practitioners volunteer but today they are now treated with the same respect as Christian Scientists and other woo-woo goonies.
Dawn and Andrew may very well be the first Westerners to create a Reiki manual that includes (western) Anatomy & Physiology diagrams. If so, more power to them.
I think that if the spiritual side of Reiki appeals to a practitioner more than the clinical then go for it. If the clinical side which is now re-emerging appeals more, then go for it.
I would frown upon degrading others along the way. My belief and personal practice is that if one needs to push someone else down to stand higher, then the validity of the means needs to be re-examined.
