Posture balls as seats

It is becoming morepopular to use posture/stability balls for seatsat desks orwatching T.V. etc as the users beileve it helps their posture & develops muslces in the abs, trunk, glutes etc. & improves core stability.
However I can't help wondering that if all these muscle groupsare being used over long periodssurely they are at risk of developing an overuse injury/ micro trauma or possibly muscle imbalances.
I wouldhave thought stability balls are better used as part of a more controlled exercise regime.
Any thoughts?

Is this like a gym ball/swiss ball?
TBH I don't know enough about the body to say whether longterm, prolonged usage would cause damage. Just that if they're too tired, they could fall off it and injure themselves.
