Hayfever.. contraindication or not?
Hi,
I'm busy with my case studies for reflexology (studying ITEC) and have one guinea pig :Dthat is prone to Hayfever. I've now drawn a blank with this.. could anyone please advise whether hayfever is a contraindication and whether it would be categorised as Total (I'm pretty sure it's not that), Partial (ie requires medical/specialist permission), or would this fall under a local contraindication?
I've gone through all my books including my Louise Tuckers coursebookand am now totally confused :( Would appreciate your input on this.
Thanks all,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Can't think of a single reason why Hayfever would be contra-indicated in anyway, shape or form !!!?? Sounds like a great case study to me and i'm sure you'll do her some good !!!

Not a contra in my book. In fact I had a client a couple of years ago who was left free of hayfever after we did just 3 treatments. Having been someone who had to have injections, such were the severity of his symptoms, he was pretty pleased and so was I!
Answers:
it is an allergy and a sort of contra indication but not one that would stop treatment unless the client was having a facial massage and they were streaming

Hi Kathy, I am also doing my case studies for AOR and using my son who is 12 and has hayfever. I have worked on him about 4 times and he loves it, I usually do about 10 minutes on each foot (much to his disappointment - he wants a FULL session)and just work on top half of foot. If you lookat CASE STUDY - HAYFEVER 27th May you will see the interesting replies I got re my post.
good luck
