Charging for reiki and other questions..

Right I want to ask this question as simply as possible, I do not want any arguing over the point just honest answers to the questions.
1. Do you charge clients for healing?
2. Do you take donations for healing?
3. Were you ever taught with in your reiki 'initiation' the saying ''Anything free becomes worthless'' ?
4. What level of Usui reiki do you feel you need to be to practise on the public?
5. Are you insured to practise on the public?
6. Do you home visit or have people come to you?
7. If you have people come to you where do you 'practise'?
8. Finally, Do you think it is fare that someone who has been attuned distantly can reguarly not get insurance nor can they join most federations?
Im curious, because I was disatntly attuned to start and then had face to face with the same teacher due to insurance difficulties, I was also taught the saying above, I do not make home visits for my own safety and the fact that I live in very tranquil surroundings and do alot of summer appointments outside in my garden (under a canopy i might add).
I might have missed some of my reasons but i will be the first to answer these questions.
Brightest blessings and light to you and your loved ones.
Inari.

Answers:

1. Do you charge clients for healing? Yes I do but its not really a charge as its such a small amount.

2. Do you take donations for healing? Yes I do accept donations instead of my charge not on top of it.

3. Were you ever taught with in your reiki 'initiation' the saying ''Anything free becomes worthless'' ?Yes I was taught this was a saying of Dr. Mikao Usui and believe it is also written in his texts although not often taght to students further down the lineage line.

4. What level of Usui reiki do you feel you need to be to practise on the public? By public I am stating not family and friends, the actual public and I beleive to do this you should be no lower than a level 2.
5. Are you insured to practise on the public? Yes although it has taken me a long time to be able to get insured.

6. Do you home visit or have people come to you? People come to me for my own safety.

7. If you have people come to you where do you 'practise'? I do alot of summer appointments outside as I basically live in the middle of a field so its very peaceful and tranquil, also I currently do not drive, although older clients are often visited (I get a lift) I have what is commonly known as a shed as my office/treatment room, decorated in white flowing walls and voile, with candles, incense and music, plus a chair and a table. A bit more of an answer than I expect to get from others and maybe a little off topic in places, sorry.

8. Finally, Do you think it is fare that someone who has been attuned distantly can reguarly not get insurance nor can they join most federations? An age old argument that im sure will pop up time and time again, i have been attuned to both ways now due to the fact that i could not get insured on distant attunement even though my reiki practising is exactly the same, so no its not on and its more expense to the poor person learning..... I paid for all of my attunements twice just to get insurance.

So there we have my answers look forward to yours....

I just want to point out that I am not looking for peoples chare amounts or to find out what competition there is out there, I am asking these questions as they have been asked to me by my students, I have been in the position from the last question (no.8) and feel strongly that if a lineage and certificates can be produced by your distant reiki tutor then there should be no reason for not being able to join or get insurance, also and again i am not being rude, distant attunements do work and you will find thousands of people who will agree with this. However I am not trying to start a debate and just want simple to the point answers, nothing that will start off an argument. Thank you.

Answers:

1. Do you charge clients for healing?
Yes, as there has to be an "exchange" and I have paid for my courses, equipment, advertising, etc. This is a part of my business. Although, there are many clients I treat that don't get charged...or get a reduced rate. It all depends on circumstances and each individual is assessed accordingly. I will never refuse anybody a Reiki treatment that requires it.

2. Do you take donations for healing?
If I am doing a charity event or a "free" treatment and a donation is given ( money or otherwise) then yes, I will accept it. Donations to me have been very varied, flowers, chocolates, even a house spring clean and gardening have been done in exchange for a Reiki treatment.

3. Were you ever taught with in your reiki 'initiation' the saying ''Anything free becomes worthless'' ?
It was discussed, yes. Again, there has to be an exchange of some sort...money or otherwise.

4. What level of Usui reiki do you feel you need to be to practise on the public?
At least Reiki 2. To have more of an understanding as to the effects that Reiki can have on different people and how to deal with the different effects. To be sure that Reiki really is something you wish to use to help yourself and others. To be able to explain Reiki properly to others and be prepared yourself for the Universal Energy connections and what else might come along with it.

5. Are you insured to practise on the public?
Yes.

6. Do you home visit or have people come to you?
Both. Most of my "home visits" are to clients that I have met before or people that I know of. New clients have to come to me first if they are able. As most of my clients are via word of mouth I don't have too many problems. Although, I am very careful if dealing with male clients (sorry men) that are not known to me...if they can't get to my home then I will always make sure I have somebody else with me.

7. If you have people come to you where do you 'practise'?
I don't have a proper treatment room AT THE MOMENT. Usually in one of my downstairs rooms, many candles and oils burning and also good Reiki, relaxation music playing. The room at a decent temp. and the couch out and ready for my client. Most clients comment on how relaxed and inviting my home is.

8. Finally, Do you think it is fare that someone who has been attuned distantly can reguarly not get insurance nor can they join most federations?
Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone. But, IMHO how can somebody give a Reiki treatment without having been taught face to face. To learn and to be shown the different hand positions, to have been given a hands on Reiki treatment, to be able to feel the energy, to be able to discuss in person the Reiki history and teachings. To practise distant healing and to put into practice all the Reiki teachings as well as to personally have your attunements. I personally do NOT agree with people being able to practice Reiki and to charge for treatments if they have been attuned distantly. My main concern for this is, the person that is offerring the distant attunements might not be fully qualified to do this and is actually just taking peoples money. I think it is necessary for the hands on, face to face teaching of Reiki and receiving of attunements.

Answers:

1. Do you charge clients for healing? No
2. Do you take donations for healing? Only if Offered

3. Were you ever taught with in your reiki 'initiation' the saying ''Anything free becomes worthless'' ? No because IMO that was only after the west was involved.
4. What level of Usui reiki do you feel you need to be to practise on the public? Level 2
5. Are you insured to practise on the public? Yes
6. Do you home visit or have people come to you? Both
7. If you have people come to you where do you 'practise'? Clinic room
8. Finally, Do you think it is fare that someone who has been attuned distantly can reguarly not get insurance nor can they join most federations? Yes but with reservations. Some masters are very good and set the time and give instructions. Some like for example ebay and some internet sites do not.

Would just like to add that everyone will have a slightly different view because we all came to Reiki in a different way.I was attuned in Reki in 1999 and did my Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 six months apart and with different Masters. My Reiki 1 Master was a very spiritual man who only practiced Reiki and at the time that was what I needed. My Reiki2 was with a lady who was qualified to practiced in a variey of different therapies who was less spiritual and that was what I needed at that time. In my Reiki 1 attunement I expereinced something which had I had a distant attunement would have really unsettled me. The same in my Reiki 2 attunement which although was totally different needed to be for me,'hands on' I would not have wanted to have experience Reiki 1 & 2 together as they are sometimes offered as I needed to work through 'issues' but that is just me, someone else might choose to be attuned that way. (I also practice other therapies in addition to Reiki).
The question of to charge or not to charge will always be out there. I think to have the ability to accept that we all practice differently is a great thing.

Thank you for your opinion, this is all I am asking for, the questions asked are as I said out of interest of what other people views are they are not intended to spark a debate, I thought I would add a bit to my last post as I felt that some people may think i'm prying. I accept everyone works in different ways and my own views are not always that of others, however if a view becomes dominent I would like to relook at my views......
thanks again
