Physio's with Sports therapy Dip and the 'Regulation'
Hi!
When the Sports Therapy regulations comes into affect and people are applying what do the Physiotherapist do who have gained a diploma in Sports Therapy too? Do we need to apply too?
I have a physio degree and then did a Sports Therapy diploma afterwards. If Sports Therapy is regulated do I have to apply so that I can carry on saying i'm a physio and sports therapist?
Any advice would be helpful
Thx

Hi Lyric,
when regulations come into effect, everyone wishing to practice as a sports therapist will have to be registered with the Health Professions Council, as you have to do already to continue using the title 'physiotherapist'.
Answers:
Remedial Instructor If I don't register, can I still use 'Physiotherapist who specialises in Sports injury'?

Reiki Pixie If I don't register, can I still use "Oriental Massage Therapist who specialises in sports injury"?

stephen jeffrey Hi all
as I understand it so long as you do not call yourself a sports therapist or offer sports therapy you are perfectly entitled to treat sports injuries if that is what you have been trained so to do.(once the title becomes protected).
I call myself a sports and remedial massage therapist and have no wish what so ever to use the title sports therapist.
Does anyone know if those X osteopaths that now call themselves osteomyologists have suffered any dire consiquences ? or are they now HPC registered as well ?

Reiki Pixie Hi ya Stephen
Thanks for your reply. I jumped in to this thread partly as a joke, but in all seriousness I do have Thai Sports Injury Massage as one of my qualifications. It is nice to know where I stand. Personally not interested enough in Sports Therapy to upgrade. The remedial scene is enough for me!
Cheers
