question about facials
I'm going to treat myself to a facial at home:D
trouble is, I have NO IDEA what order to do everything in!
If I want to do a proper steam, cleanse, tone, exfoliate etc what order do I do it all in?
I also make all my own products, so if anyone wants to share any favourite recipes I'd love to hear them.
My skin is a little dry after winter and is prone to being a little bit sensitive.
Thanks all and happy spring!

:)Hello,
Ihavent done beauty therapy formany years, but idid pass my beauty nvq 2 course. So pleasebare with me.... here goes:
No 1Double cleanse your face...be careful roundeye area not to drag skin. i would use acream cleanser as you stated your skin was dry. ThenTone (toner:- use no alcohol if sensitive skin) Dont forget your neck..
No2 Exfoliate: Not too abrasive, fine mirco beads..
No 3Steam??/ I would be careful not to over stimulate your dry/sensitive skin.
No 4 Face Mask: use one for your skin type ?(non-setting mask).
N0 5 Massage: use massage cream.
N0 6 Apply eye cream and moisturise.
Dont be alarmed if you come out spotty in the next couple of days, this is normal.
Drink plenty of water. avoid touching the deep cleansed skin....
Have Fun.
what products do you use?
Bye for now[sm=sandrine.gif]Rachel
Ps Try having a facialat a salon, somedo afeet and hand massage aswell and it makes you feel like a new person afterwards...

Cleanse your skin twice, and remove with a towel or diaper soaked in warm water and wrung out. Not too warm! Too much steam or heat will dry your skin out further so be careful.
Try adding baking soda to your everyday cleanser as an exfoliant. Mix it up in your palm and gently massage in small circular motions all over the face avoiding the eyes. The baking soda will first gently work as a scrub, but as it dissolves, it turns into an alkaline substance which will help to open your pores up and soften any hardened dirt and oil trapped in your pores so you will be able to extract them easily without having to squeeze your face to death.. lol.
Rinse off with warm water and pat face dry cover your two pointer fingers with clean tissue and GENTLY rock your fingers back and fourth around any congestion in your skin, kinda pressing down and inward... no squeezing, and definitely no touching anything that is inflamed! This is completely optional. I feel like I am explaining this wrong so you might want to just avoid this step all together... hahaha.
Spray on an alcohol free toner... this will bring your skin back to its balanced state.
Use a good oil for your skin like jojoba oil, or even olive oil since that will probably be more accessable to you and give yourself a good neck and shoulder rub. When you've had enough of that, make sure you've got just enough oil on your face so your hands can glide across. using two flat hands on the face, fingers pointing inwards at the chin, trace your jawline up towards the ears. Repeat 6 times. Press on both sides of the nose above the nostrils, then glide your fingers out tracing your cheekbones in an upwards motion towards your ears. Repeat that 6 times. Place your fingertips on the bone just under your eye and press down slowly. Hold until you count to three, let go, and repeat that as many times as you want. There is a great pressure point on each inner side of the eyebrows. Find it and you will love it. Press and hold a few times. Don't forget to take slow, deep breaths into your diaphragm. Close your massage by rubbing your hands together really really fast until they get really warm, then placing your palms over your eyes for three inhalations. Rinse/towel it off.
For the mask... if you have a good moisturizing mask, use that... or you can make your own by making some plain oatmeal and adding a little bit of honey. The oatmeal is a great skin balancer and honey is a great healer. When doing this, first place a piece of gauze over your face, then put your oatmeal and honey mixture on top of that. The gauze will help to keep it from sliding off of your face and making a bigger mess than you already have. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse well or towel off with a warm towel/cloth diapper.
Spray on the toner again, and while the skin is still damp, apply a pea sized amount of moisturizer to your face and neck. Make sure this is a good moisturizer for your skin type.
I can't believe I actually took the time to think this up and type this out. I must be bored.
