Reflexology after surgery

Hi..........
Wonder if anyone could advise me please, I have hada potential client approach me as she is due to have stomach surgery (something to do with repairing muscles in the abdomen after child birth) and she wants to have Reflexology asap as she has ben told that it very good for healing. I am just concerned as to how soon she shoudl have a treatment as I am inclined to say wait until you have had your follow up appointment with your consultant but I am aware that Reflexology is used in the healthcare enviroment to aid in the healing process and she is keen to have it asap after her surgery.
any advice would be great..........

Answers:

Hi.
Personally I have been taught that you should leave it for around six weeks after surgery. However, if you could get the client to talk to the surgeon and sign a disclaimer it might be possible to do it sooner.
If you did go ahead though I would just suggest going easy over the areas that have been disturbed by the surgery, just until they are healed properly.
Hope this helps.
Claire.

Hi Claire
Thanks for that as you have confirmed what I thought and should wait 6 weeks post op.
Hopefully my client will be happy with that..
Thanks again:)
