hobby first then business.
Im wondering if any of you can advise me, as im new to the forum and about to start massage training (VTCT A&P and swedish massage)
I wont be able to practice once I qualify for at least 2 years due to family commitments, and also feel i need to gain experience and further qualifications.
Is it possible to work with family and friends, and LEGALLY ears some money? I dont feel that Ill be ready to go into business until had some experience, and made choices about where I want my massage career to go. If i went straight into business, Im worried that I wont have the time of insight to make the right choices.
Does anyone have any experiences that they can share?

Hi Dawn
You can start earning money from it as soon as you feel what you have to offer is worth paying for, however you must not advertise yourself as a therapist without first getting qualifications and once you have your qualifications you need insurance to practice :-)

Thanks Paul,
everything you say makes sense. I will get insured as soon as I qualify, and have started researching that.
I am concerned that I can only work a few hour a week at the moment. I will have weeks at a time when Iwont work at all (school holidays). Will this make sorting out tax difficult, or are they understanding about lone traders who have a small income? Until circumstances change I wont be available for work more than one morning a week.
Im worried that Im starting this course too soon to make good use of it, but the thought of delaying it really bothers me. I want to start NOW.
