questions about improving man maintaing facial skin condition for nvq2 in beauty therapy
Hi there
I have just joined this website in the hope that fellow beauty therapists might be able to help me with some questions for my eku course work book for facials. I go twice a week to a private beauty college as I am still in full time employment and after doing my nvq2 would then like to go onto do nvq3 in beuty therapy, after each unit we get questions to answer to revise for our exam but am stuck on a few and wondered if anyone out there would be kind enough to help me. here are the questions:
1. what is the position of the head, neck, chest and shoulder girdle?
2. What is the position of the face, neck and shoulder muscles?
3. How can you recognise contra-indications which restrict treatment when doing a facial on a client?
4. What are the suitable courses of treatment for various facial treatments?
5. How do you treat the skin types and conditions listed in the range?
Would be grateful if anyone could email if they no the answers thanks.

Hi Margaret,
I can answer question 3 however I am a therapist of 14 years and I find the other questions a bit vague, dont undertstand them perhaps there is another part to it. Try asking your tutor to explain the question, if you can undertsand the question then the answer should be easy.
3. Any open wound, lesion or condition that may be contagious ( cross infection ) Herpes, scabies, impetigo etc... if in doubt dont treat. If its just a skin condition you may just need toadapt your facial routine/treatment or products ( skin annalysis ) to suit.
If you turned away a client with a problem you would be turning away almost all of your clients. Sometimes a contra indication may just need to be concidered a precaution, you will learn spot the difference and depending on what part of the body you are working on sometimes you can eliminate an area or cover. The most important thing to remember is salon and personal hygiene and cross infection.
Hope this helps.
