help for travel sickness needed
My sister (aged thirtysomething) has always suffered from travel sickness. She is going on holiday next week by aeroplane. She has never flown before. It's only a one hour flight but she is worried she will be sick on the plane. Can anyone recommend anything she could take to avoid feeling sick.
Many Thanks, Cara xxx

There are lots of things she could try. You can get the traditional over the counter anti-sickness pills (I get sea sick and they work very well), if she doesn't want to take drugs she could try those bands (think they are call sea bands), you can get them in chemists like boots, they work on an acupressure point in the wrist that is supposed to help with motion sickness. Peppermints (normal strong mints) or ginger (try ginger biscuits) can help with nausea too. Most of all tell her not to panic. There can be turbulance but it is usually up and down motion rather than the side to side motion that makes ME feel ill. Anyway, all airlines provide sick bags!

Agree with Lyssa totally on the wristbands and the ginger.. my brother always swore by a full cooked breakfast before he travelled and never going on an empty stomach too..

Hi Cara
I get awful travel sickness and find that the over the counter supplements do really help. Plus drinking flat coke seems to be a good one!
Hope she has a lovely time! [sm=FIFangel.gif]

Hello,
Planes have never been a problem for me, but car/bus travel can make me sick. And boat is very bad for me. So your sister might be just fine on the plane!
Otherwise I agree with the adice given above.

I swear by a full stomach too. I have a good plate of stodge before I travel, and some ginger supplements the week leading up to travelling. Failproof so far...

I can vouch for the Seabands, my son wore them when he was young and we were travelling. He's 28 now and only a couple of weeks ago asked if I still had them as he was going on a long coach journey - I found them, he wore them and had no problems. :)
