Jogging and Marathon Running

Are there any joggers in this forum? If so then I would like to discuss and share experiences and problems with you.
I already explained this in the Night Cramps thread and it is my worst problem that I have ever encountered while jogging or running marathons. One of my greatest nightmares, in fact:
I sometimes get cramp in the calf muslces. It is extremely frustrating. Stretching exercises, salts, magnessium, calcium and potassium are supposed to be good cures. Eating loads of bannanas which have potassium is also recommended.
I don't get it so bad as I used to, especially since I started to spend more time doing stretching exercises. One good exercise is to push against a wall, while keeping the back straight. I also found that the magnessium sulphate tablets helped. It is still a potential threat and I can still get it especially in the left calf. I would be greatful if anyone can give me some more advice on this problem.

[sm=wave.gif] No joggers in this family however my daughter used to dance (ballet, tap etc). now that she doesn't do it anymore she finds it difficult to do exercise as her calf muscles tighten up to the extent that she can hardly walk, and this after she has warmed up.
Any suggestions.

That was an interesting point about your daughter getting the same problem, because she used to be active by doing the dancing.
The reason why I say this is because I never used to have the problem, as long as I had been running for regular periods. A few years ago I stopped running altogether and then started back again and that was when the cramps started.
