Can anyone tell me if Potassium Alum & Aluminium are one of the same thing...thanks

My book says that Potassium Alum is 'the potassium double sulfate of aluminum' and is also called 'Potash Alum' so I would say no, they are very similar, but not the same.
Might be worth waiting for another persons views though, Chemistry wasnt my strong point at school! :D
