windynights Please enlighten me as to what is junk sleeping.
I'm guessing its unsuitable sleep, rather than good restful sleep!
If its any help I sleep anywhere. On buses, trains, at work, watching tv, the cinema and still sleep all night.
There does seem to be a concensus of opinion that forty winks is good for you (especially at work) makes you more alert and less fatigued.

summerday Never heard of it before!:o

Urban_Hippy I find this post odd.
lilsiany says she's suffering from 'not getting enough sleep' and wonders if anyone knows anything about it!?
It's lack of sleep - tire yourself out during the day and go to bed early.

Answers:

Energylz Not strictly speaking. As I understand it, Junk Sleep is when people are falling asleep e.g. in front of the TV, possibly linked to the "junk" food they have eaten. Could be related to food intolerences perhaps?

Answers:

Urban_Hippy I'm not sure Giles, I'd not heard the term before so searched the web.
The sites I came across all stated it's not getting enough sleep.
As for the other version, we all feel sleepy after a large meal due to blood shunting. The digestive system needs extra energy and blood, taking away blood from the brain making one feel sleepy.
If the meal has little nutrional value, and if there's no new energy from the food, the process will leave you lathargic.

Energylz I stand corrected. The link I had looked at before related it to poor eating whilst sitting in front of the TV but, having had another google around, it seems it's more to do with kids just not getting enough sleep, supposedly because of electronic gadgets keeping them (or tempting them to stay) awake.
Yes, I understand about the food/body energy thing already. However there can be some food intolerences that lead people to become tired. My other half can feel very tired if she eats a packet of crisps with MSG in them, not even a large meal. ;)
