2 hour relaxation session
I've been asked to provide a 2 hour relaxation session to a group of women that I have worked with before.
I have already explored crystals, dowsing, aromatherapy, bach flower rememdies with them and they are very open to it all.
I thought I would talk a little about stress relief, relaxation quick methods (already have a sheet made up for this) and a guided meditation. What else could I do?
Answers:
gilliebean Why not try different types of meditation - guided, visualisation (eg eating a lemon - that kind of thing), music e.g. American Indian drumming, natures sounds, learning to walk lightly - like walking on rice paper, mantras, breathing meditations, walking meditations etc etc etc.
My groups also enjoy dousing, having fun with tarot cards as beginners, learning to feel and see the aura, feeling and seeing energy (eg energy ball between hands)
Hope thats helped a little.

what is this?!!!!!
I have already done energy and seeing an aura with them, so don't want to repeat myself too much.

gilliebean I used to take my group through a kind of guided meditation involving food. One of them was about visualising an apple, what colour is it, does it have any leaves attached, any bruising (that kind of thing) then telling them its very sharp and to take a bite - obviously you make the story as long as you like with plenty of visualisation. You will find that they start to salivate due to their visualisation. You can try similar visualisations with curry, lemons, chillis - anything with a powerful taste - or try visualising cold ice cream. Its fun both for you and the group.

daisychain cool, I like it very much.
I would also like to talk to them about whether you are able to visualise with pictures, sound or touch. What are the proper terms for it? kinetics?
Answers:
gilliebean I have no idea what its called - but your suggestion sounds fine. Here are 3 of the meditations that I did with the group which are open to expanding however you like. Have fun:cool::cool:

gilliebean I started off with a small meditation group at home, with friends and neighbours. When we couldn't get any more people in our rather small lounge, I put the word around and hired a small room in the local library. If you're good, people find out by word of mouth. Use the local paper to do an article on you, and 'Bobs your Uncle' you're off. :):)

daisychain thanks gill, you have given me some ideas.
I have already done some work on the chakras with them AND done a chakra meditation, so basically having to look at new things.
will print gill's ideas off and give them a go.

How about meditation on the seasons and the elements. For example, using the Chinese five elements: this at the moment is late summer, element of earth, colour yellow, organs of digestion and the spleen, what is it that nourishes us, the mother principle, threshold between the summer months and the winter ones.
Just a suggestion (on digestion)
Cheers

JonRhodesuk A 2 hour session is a long time! You could do a search for hypnosis scripts as they tend to be longer than meditations!

daisychain hi everyone,
well I did the relaxation session last week and it seemed to go well, although I only ended up doing an hour, as they were busy arranging something for the first hour.
I did the 3 meditations that gillie recommended and they went really well, the faces that they pulled when they had to 'eat' lemon!!!! what a scream!
I also did a lovely guided visualisation on colours.
I also got them to talk about WHAT THEY DID to relax, so we spent time talking about different forms and individual crutches ie alcohol, smoking, TV, etc.
I have already explored crystals, dowsing, aromatherapy, bach flower rememdies with them and they are very open to it all.

Meditation 1
- Imagine you are holding a rosebud in your hands.
- As you focus you attention on the bud it will begin to open. If you cannot actually 'see' the rosebud, don't worry; just know it's there.
- As the petals unfold feel the texture and study the colour - you may find the colour changes as you progress.
- Allow the rose to fully open and absorb its perfume
- At this point breathe in slowly and deeply several times.
- Now study the rose again. There may be a few dewdrops sprinkled over the petals. A ladybird may have alighted on it. Use your imagination.
- When you are ready, watch the rose close and become a bud again.
- Imagine you are holding a piece of fruit in your hands
- Study its texture and colour. Are there any marks on it? Are there any leaves on it? Does it have a stem?
- Peal the fruit with your fingers. What does the skin feel like? Examine the fruit again. Study its texture and colour.
- Smell it and taste it. Is it sharp or sweet?
- Imagine you are holding a lemon
- Study its texture and colour
- Peel it with your fingers, feel the texture of the peel between your fingers
- See the juice squirting out as you peel it.
- Take a bite of the lemon. What is happening in your mouth?
