Stomach Cramps in the Morning

I have been having regular stomach cramps when I wake up in the morning, they are not severe but they do give me a bit of bother. They always go away as the day progresses, as long as I eat breakfast they wont continue to give me any bother, so I can only assume that it's because I need to eat something. However, I haven't always suffered with this problem, it started just before I turned 16, I am now 16 years old and I am just a bit concerned. I also get excessive mucus in the back of my throat, this is the result of an illness I had a few months ago which is difficult to controll, so says the ENT. Anyway, I have to swallow the mucus, perhaps this is the cause of my mild stomach cramps in the mornings?
Or could this be anything to do with my age?
Thanks,
