Green tea is good for weight loss.
Green tea is good for weight loss. In fact Green tea has also helped aid weight loss by increasing the metabolic rate, causing those who use it to experience greater calorie burn. Green tea may be useful as a glucose regulator -- meaning it slows the rise in blood sugar following a meal. Hence drink green tea instead of regular tea or coffee. You really don't need to take a pill or spend a ton of money to get this stuff into your system.

Welcome to HP, Beatrice!
I quite like the taste of green tea (as long as it is weak) - but I don't believe that it's any good for weight loss unless you are drinking a cup of green tea instead of having a packet of biscuits! I think that it does have loads of antioxidants and is quite healthy. I'd not put any trust in its mystical weightloss properties though (IMHO).

Dear all,
I have also drank green tea in the past and found it to be alright but have recently found an alternative that I feel is helping me to detox/ lose weight and generally feel better. It's called Kombucha tea and its originally from China. It is a natural probiotic drink thatis supposed to increase metabolism and cleanse the body, and has been drank for thousands of years!
I encourage people to try it out an dsee what they think, I get it from these people:

From my understanding (untrained but well-read), because it contains caffeine, the caffeine acts as a catalyst to encourage your body to burn the fat before the protein particularly when you engage in any exercise or sport (rather than the first 20 minutes of intense aerobic exercise burning protein).
I could be wrong.

I'm drinking Green Tea several times a day as a detox and to help burn off fat......Can't say I've noticed much burning (apart from the hot flushes!)...but I do feel better-ish.
Probably just nature's way of telling me that I'm really too old to be thinking about baring as much flesh as I have in the past when I go on my hols.......
Knickers to that! I'm getting old disgracefully! And thoroughly enjoying the reaction of my kids!!!!

The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots.
In November, 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published the results of a study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Researchers found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine or a placebo. Green tea can even help prevent tooth decay! Just as its bacteria-destroying abilities can help prevent food poisoning, it can also kill the bacteria that causes dental plaque. Meanwhile, skin preparations containing green tea - from deodorants to creams - are starting to appear on the market.

Research suggest that green tea is excellent for fat loss as it contains cathechins which are known to increase fat metabolism. It can also help to increase endurance during exercise over time. It's especially effective when combined with CLA, which is another fat metaboliser a lot of protein shakes that athletes take contain GT and CLA.
