excrutiating pain at the slightest knock
I wonder if anyone can help shed some light on this for me.
If i gently knock into something or injur myself in anyway it cripples me with pain and i get a bruise come up very quickly if not imediately.
For example this morning my husband affectionately touched my upper arm and i screamed with pain and even cried as it hurt so much, then for about half an hour afterwards my arm was aching and tingling ( abit like the feeling if you knock your elbow/funny bone) My poor husband must is now scared of coming anywhere near me and i dont blame him!!
I wondered if there was a reason for me feeling pain such excrutiating after such a minor knock? This happens all the time and its getting really embarrassing especially if im out and i trip up or a stranger knocks into me i end up with tears streaming down my face from the pain.
Any feed back would be appreciated.

Suggest seeing your GP or an osteopath.
A few possibilities off the top of my head include;
Fibromyalgia or iron anemia (are you a veggie?), may also be a lack of vitamin C or the trace mineral copper.

Hi,
Is your pain confined to the arm? If so it sounds very much like carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hello Andrew and hmgcarr,
Thank you for your posts.
In answer to your questions i am not a veggie and my pain happens all over me not just my arm. I dont know if it contributes in anyway but i have quite poor circulation. Im not familiar with Fibromyalgia , please can you tell me more about this?

I can sympathise with you cause I too suffer though not by the sounds of itto the same extent as yourself.
My research has come up with many an under-functioning or overloadedliver (in my case from years of the wrong fatty foods I think)and adrenal glands.
Do you ache all the time even when not bumped?
Do you get up during the night to the toilet many times, or need to go frequently during the day?
Are you tired all the time?
Maybe you are overweight and can't lose weight?
Sorry for all the questions. If any of these also seem familiar I can let you know what I've been trying the past few weeks.
Good luck

Hi Caroline - hopefully this might help you or other readers:)
Just before Easter I went to an Osteopath / Kinesiologist that I attend usually when things get too hard to cope with - i.e. when I can save up enough money to go! My list ofconcerns were:
** Can't seem to get enough sleepand am always tired
** My body always feels like it's been beat up, sore all the time
** Bruise easily
** Odema esp in ankles and hands
** Can't lose weight (despite religiously going to Rosemary Conley and
being really good!!)
** Running to loo all the time (e.g. today I walked 20 mins to collect
daughter from nursery, emptied bladder before I left, went again
before leaving nursery and then 10 minutes later had to sneak into
the bingo hall!! at least I have a 4 year old as an excuse -
ironic thing is she goes on getting up in am and not again some days
til bed!)
** Often get night sweats
** Sciatia
So armed with my list off I went! To give you bit more info I'm 31 so still young (!), probably fall into the very overweight category of 80kg and 163cm but carry it well lol.
The one main thing the guy asked was does my hair fall out a lot when brushing. Hard to answer when you only have a child in house to compare to but had to say yes. He did muscle testing bits and suggested that my thyroid is underactive.
Given my past experiences of GPs (I can;t take iron or it'll probably killme - and the GP forced a prescription for iron on me when I was pregnant and anameic!), I bought a book by Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield on the Thyroid. Basically a lot of times blood results come back borderline and you're sent away and other times you are put on thyroxine for life.
I was amazed how many of the other boxes I ticked! Some of the other symptoms of hypothyroidism include constipation, flatulence, anxiety, headaches, thick tongue, hoarseness etc. It showed bladder irritation and frequency, ankle swelling, excessive tiredness, muscle weakness, weight gain, breathlessness, intolerance to cold and brittle nails - all things I suffer from.
Sometimes it is more of a relief to find out about something which could be affecting you and which you can do something about.
It also showed that low adrenal reserve can also be indicated by, among others, cold extremities, sweet craving, back pain, poor exercise tolerance, palpitations and dark rings under the eyes.
So what have I been doing since?...

BTW the Osteopath did some manipulations esp on my neck - it always cracks a lot, that surprisingly 'fixed' my sciatia, all be it temporarily so a lot of my problems must stem for the neck.My problem now is that I am having almost constant unbearable pain in either my lower back/pelvis/hip and I cannot place its origin so I'm still waiting to get another appt.
It all makes sense that in the past 10 years my body has been slowly overloaded with toxins. I am a comfort eater, sweet stuff, was stuck in a emotionally damaging relationship for a lot of those years, had a kid, now I;m on my own, trying to make a go of my business after getting made redundant twice in less than 3 years and coping with a close family member's terminal cancer. I'm a worrier too which doesn't help lol! I never was a big drinker, or smoked.
I am not making excuses in any way for the condition of my body but am setting about trying to detox it gradually - its taken a long time to get it to this state. So heres quick pointers for anyone else in similar way:
For the thyroid - yes I wil go to my GP if I feel the need in the future but last summer they ran loads of tests and found nothing (I actually was clearing out old paperwork last week and found the appt letter for last July on which I had written basically the same symptoms as last month!). Also I did have glandular fever about 14 years ago and sometimes this can affect the colloid, hormone producing , tissue of the thyroid.
I am trying a gentle liver detox and adapting in relation to thyroid stuff too. I am also taking beetroot, celery, kelp tablets (for iodine), vitamins, garlic capsules, flaxseed oil, zinc supplement. For thyroid avoid large quantities of cabbage, brussel sprouts, turnip, etc.
When i can I'm using a psyllium blend, with plenty of water, fersh apple juice, also herbal teas esp fennel, dandelion
Obviously this is my reading into my own research and do not take it for gospel.I will let you know how things progress:) Good luck!
