hey there!!!
unfortunately i don't think anyone can help you since you did not post enough information and even then it might not be possible. i suggest you consult your GP. Personally I would try to steer clearof painkillers etc. I work in a health food store and I'm a holistic therapist. I believe that if the body is in pain, the problem should be dealt with and not the symptom, which is what your treating by taking pain killers.
I probably sound very harsh, but your health is your wealth and you should...................
CONSULT A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.
I can't suggest any thing because of possible contraindications etc... I really wish I could be of some help!!!
Keep me posted, please!!!

I've had trouble sleeping for years - have tried everything on the market - none of them really worked. I use Brufen as and when and I admit, i always sleep better with one than without.
HOWEVER .................fed up with worrying about not sleeping[:o][:o]I was guided to have hypnosis about 4 months ago and have never looked back. My hypnotist recorded the guided meditation that I did with her in the session. If I have trouble sleeping, I just play her CD and my sleeping pattern improves. I've been sleeping really well most nights - so much so that I don't worry if I have a bad night now. I don't need sleepers or any drugs/herbs now.
If you PM me your address, will send you a copy.

I suffer with back problems occasionally so take Ibuferon for that. Must admit they help me with sleep as well for when the pain is bad. But I sleep pretty well, drop off as soon as I climb into bed but wake about 4am in the morning.
This is becoming a habit I cannot break. I was advised to heat milk as a drink before I go to bed as apparently milk contains Tryptophan (excuse spelling!) which helps problems with sleeping. The milk must be hot or warm to bring the Triptophan out.

What does your doc have to say about it!
Dr Stuart's Valerian tea is quite useful for sleepless nights. Be warned, it doesn't smell that nice...

I have spondylosis of lower soine and neck and take the brufen when it becomes inflamed. Have tried the valerian tea, love the flavour - but doesn't work. When competing with so called withdrawal from drugs - from my experience - and I've tried the lot, herbs don't work. Its the brain which needs reprogramming, which is where hypnosis/self hypnosis comes in. You can't expect the herbs to do it all for you - you need to take control and work on the mind .

Hello rosebud, and everyone ...
I've moved this thread over from General Discussions to General Health, because a search on Ibuprofen revealed it's been in quite a few threads across the board. This one seemed the most appropriate from your query and the replies so far.
However, I also found another quite well highlighted thread on this topic in Natural Remedies, which is here:
Hope this helps, both for symptoms here AND possible alternatives.

hi all thank you for all your answers and good advice ive had to go back on the ibuprofen because ive not been sleeping for a week now but also the pain was there during the night as well as the day where before it was just the day. I think with most drugs they mask the problem rather then help. Ive managed to cut down on the other painkiller i was on though but iam annoyed i have had to go back onto ibuprofen. Thats interesting about the training of the mind over painkillers i expect our bodys get too used to them. rosebud.

You are right, pain medications do nothing with the cause of the pain, they only reduce the pain as a symptom. You can try herbs with sedative/relaxing properties (e.g. chamomile, lemon balm, passionflower) to help with sleep.

When you have been on pain killers for a long time you might not realise that your body has become addicted to them. Stopping them all at once after a long time taking them is not a good idea as it can have adverse effects on your body, problems sleeping being one of them. Ive had back problems for around a year now and was on Arthrotec, a stronger version of ibuprofen im led to believe. They didnt seem to be doing anything after a while so i decided to stop taking them (with no difference to my pain levels) and ended up with problems sleeping for about a week, when i tried them again i could sleep better the same night. Your body might need to be weined off of the ibuprofen slowly and hopefully you will sleep easier.
A good matteress also helps with sleeping. Try turning yours over, if you dont do already, it can make a huge difference.
