Illness- when should I aim to exercise again?

:)Hi everyone , nice to meet you all, I'm new because I've been searching the web for advice and fetched up here... hope you might be able to give me some pointers.
First post so here we go.
Recently Iwas exercising at various classes for 5 hours a week in addition to having an active job for 2 days a week as a groom, with 4 days of a sedentary job in an office.
I had to take a break of 1 week for study course commitments, but as that was ending I fell ill (just over 1 week ago now)and have barely moved for all that time. I've only just started being awake for a full day and able to get out of bed. [X(]I've not left the house except for being chaperoned down to the doctors a day ago, which was tiring.
I feel 'flabby' and very unhealthy and totally drained. I'm not eating propermeals yet- I lived off a few grapes a day when I was taking pain killers during the last week. The doctor was very vague and told me I had one thing, wrote something different on my sick note and has sent me for blood tests next week. So I'm not certain what it was.. looking at virus or laryngitis at the moment.
I'm desperate to get back to the sports centre but worried that I'll struggle and maybe put myself off altogether. I am most concerned about being fit to go back to work too as I am not the strongest person at the best of times and my boss does not suffer fools gladly. I suppose my classes are my best chance of an assessment of my fitness without upsetting anyone.
When should I go back to my classes? Knowing me I'll try and push it but I can almost feel myself losing tone and I don't want to be back where I started 3 years ago- out of breath walking up stairs and losing a job on a yard because I was too unfit to cope.
Thanks for reading, any suggestions gratefully received.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Arabesque.
I'd say that your immune system was probably quite low and you've obviously had a lot on lately. So it was your body's way of say "woah! Slow down will ya".
Absolutely do not go back to exercising until you feel 100%, otherwise you will take longer to recover and probably end up feeling ill again as your immune system is not functioning at top level. By all means go for a little walk around the block which will give you some fresh air but don't go back to the gymn, yoga, running or whatever it is you do.
Make sure you eat well. Even if it's only small amounts. I'm not a nutrionist but I would recommend some bland but healthy foods such as fish, mashed potato, eggs, to help build up your strength. Perhaps take a supplement if you don't already.
Hope you feel better soon.
Sx

Hi, sorry you've been unwell. Please don't do any exercise at all until you are fully recovered. I don't know about your spiritual beliefs but you could try a little bit of meditation, you might need to get yourself stronger mentally. By that I mean it can knock you for six being so ill and may make you a bit depressed. If you try and look on this time to re-assess what you want to do to bring yourself back to fitness, once you are well. You may find that the exercises you have been doing no longer interest you. I used to teach exercise and was also a qualified gym instructor and know if you can't find the right type of exercise for you then you won't be motivated. First and formost try and get your strength back and increase your eating, add a few more types of fruit a day and re-introduce some veg. You might have to be a bit pushy with yourself and make sure you do eat a bit more at each meal until you are back to your normal eating pattern. Get well soon.
