Get an EYE TEST

Just thought I would stress the importance of having an eye test. I have NEVER needed to wear glasses in my life (still don't)so consequently Inever paid much heed to regular tests. However the past few months my eyes felt strange!! can't even describe what I mean by that but I just popped into the Opticians on the off chance there was a free appointment and I was seen there and then. Gobsmacked and horrified to then find that I may have Glucoma and referred to hospital. This was confirmed and believe me it is initially scary when you hear cells in your eyes have died and nothing can be done. The average pressure in your eye is 15/17 mine was 30. I was given Travatan drops to take once a day, on my next appointment my pressure had dropped to 16. PHEW what a relief!! I will have to use drops for my entire life (a small price to pay) and they can have side effects BUT if it stops me going blind I will put up with it. This disease can be heredity, so get YOUR eyes checked even though you have no particular problems with general eyesight.

With you all the way on this, Jeannie!! My sister has the same condition - it's not glaucoma per se but a pre-glaucomic condition that, if untreated will lead to glaucoma. Thing is, it's so insiduous that it easily goes unnoticed until it's too late.
Both my other sister and myself now have to have a field of vision test done (and this IS a specific test with dots etc... - not the puffer test) every 12 months as will all our offspring as they grow older.
If it can be caught in time - as yours was - then it can be "held".
Good Luck. By the way, my sisters eyelashes have gone black through using the drops so at least she's saving on mascara!!
