Dizziness
Hi, I'm a new member and if there has been a thread on this subject already , forgive me. Also forgive me for the length of this thread.
I'm 38 years old and about 6 weeks ago following a severe cold ( it wasn't flu, according to my wife!) I visited my GP following some dizziness. He took my BP and found out that my pulse was 150 at rest. He sent me straight to hospital with suspected aryrthmia. After numerous checks (including an intranvenous beta blocker that wasn't very nice!!) I was given a small dose of Saltomol and admitted to the cardiac ward for the night. After a stable (but fairly fraught) night I was let home the next day. I fet a bit better for a couple of days and then the dizziness came back. This dizziness is pretty constant and felt at that time very lightheaded.
Turns out that this episode was initially caused by Supraventricular tachycardia otherwiase knwn as SVT (Tony Blair had this recently) I had the same thing 10 years ago.
In the weeks after this I took numerous tests including:
Holter tape for 24 hours
Heart Echocardiagram
Fitness Stress Test
Numeous blood tests for Diabetes, Cholesterol, Liver and Kidney function, all came back normal.
My cardiologist has now said that my dizziness is nothing to do with my heart, there was no damage done to my heart and in fact it is very healthy.
I don't smoke but until recently drank fairly regularly 1/2 bottle of wine a night with occaisional nights out with the boys. I have since pretty much stopped drinking.
After being told by the cardiologist that there was nothing sinister going on with my heart, I went back to my GP who then diagnosed stress.
This is a possibility but would it really manifest itself like this. I have booked some therapy. I have also recently started with an Osteopath and this treatment seems to have made me more dizzy. I now feel a more vertigo kind of dizziness that the high / low blood pressure type I had before seeing him. (My BP incidently is fine) I spoke to him afterwards and he said this was normal due to the toxins released by the session.
My Osteotherapist said I may have an condition called Benign Positional Vertigo?
Also could this be something to do with inner ear infecton? as my Doctor did not check this a she was very quick to say stress.
I am now in a position where I feel dizzy almost constantly. There is no ringing in my ears, I do not have headaches, I am not nauseous, I do not have pins and needles. there are also no blackouts or fainting,.
Can anyone give me some advice with this?
I am going on holiday tomorrow which I am dreading a bit as we have 2 small kids but once we get there (Inlaws, Israel) I should be able to chill a bit.
Any advice would be most gratefully recieved.
Thanks & Kind Regards
Simon
