sore lips
last week i bit myself not once, but twice hard on the inside of my lower lip ( enough to draw blood and still have the impression of teeth marks over a week later) and since then, my lips, especially my upper one ( for some odd reason considering i never bit it too!) have been sore and really dry and i was wondering if anyone knewthat biting my own lip has caused an infection .
to one side of my mouth, i have a weeping sore but don't feel it is a coldsore as there was never a blister or had a tingling/itching sensation which is usually associated with them and in additon, my upper lip feels like a gritty texture and there's lots of raised dots. i'm keeping my lips well moisturised with vaseline/chapstick .
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :D

Hi, see a doctor as fast as you can, it sounds like an infection, meanwhile rinse with salt water.
If you can't get to adoctor try the NHS helpline. Whatever you are putting on your lips use a cotton bud, one end per lip, and then throw it away.

sorry for the delay in getting back to you sherringham, thank you for your advice [sm=1kis.gif]
my top lip has healed up now but i still have the sore at the corner of my mouth which is verrrrrryyyyy slow to heal because every time i open my mouth to eat, i break the skin thus reopening the sore [:@]! i'll keep dabbing away with the salt water like you suggested.:D

Are you sure it's not impetigo as this is a common place to get it? Is it weeping or crusty?
If this is the case, it's highly infectious and you would need to see the doctor for some anti-biotics. Also don't share towels or flannels.

Glad to see you are still around Calla, was getting a bit concerned.
Its always the better option to see a doctor with any sore or wound around the mouth,as it can affect the whole of the system.
Hope you are better soon
