had a tooth out
last friday i had a tooth removed and do you know it hurts now more than it did then :(i have taken painkillers that really are not touching it
what to do? what to do ? i know hit the whiskey[:-]

sounds like it has got an infection. i think the term is "dry socket". go back to the dentist and they will put some more of that brown furry stuff to make it heal.

i have been on antibiotics for something else so surely they wold have helped if it got infected

Eurrrggghhh... That brown furry stuff tastes horrible. But I think it has good antisepticproperties.

Some antibiotics are quite specific. Might not be the right type for your tooth infection?
I had a tooth out and got 'dry socket' - the brown stuff is horrible but very effective.

Hubby had the same thing a couple of months back ~ It also turned out to be a dry socket ~ if it's that you'll need to have it packed !! He was in agony and on painkillers every 4 hours for about 10 days !!

oh great it takes ages to get into my densist if i go emergency i can be there for hours i found i could live with the pain today cos i upped the painkillers so i feel swell now numb but floaty

Trying to get to a dentist is awful now isn't it? Mine is the same, takes ages. Then they fiddle about with your teeth and you feel worse!! Does that happen to everyone i wonder, or just me?
Might be an idea to book an appointment anyway just in case you don't feel any better. I hope you do though, there are few things more painful than toothache!!!!

My wisdom teeth are starting to come through at the minute. They aren't painful just yet, but my dentist is keeping an eye on them. I really hope that it doesn't get to the point where i have to have them out.......going to the dentist is a quite an ordeal for me as i'm terrified of needles. But, i think now if you have wisdom teeth removed they do it at the dental hospital where you are put to sleep (rather have that than being awake through the whole thing!) I once had a tooth taken out with just a local anasthetic, and it was a horrible experience! It was so painful and with all the tugging it felt likethe dentistwas trying to pull my head off. I passed out soon after that so i don't remember the rest! [&:]

hi i went to the denist today managed to get in boy am i pleased yes it was a dry socket they said it was usually smokers who get this but i am not one sooo but when i told him it did not bleed as much as i thought it would have when it was taken out he said that could have caused it so who knows it feels much better now the brown furry stuff is made out of cloves which i do not mind . i too had a local to have it removed and it feels like they are trying to take our head off i wish they had these last few days but on the mend now so thankyou all of you
