kind deodorant ?
Hi all -
does anyone have a recommendation for body friendly antiperspirant ??
I have had to stop using the usual ones as my lymph gland immediately swell up and start hurting, within an hour of applying it- and I would be stupid to ignore my body's cries of disapproval.
I remember reading a thread about deo stones a while back, but does anyone use any other products ??
Good job it is the winter or I would be ponging a bit.
Thanks !!]

There are many deoderant stones on the market Rumi, offered by a variety of different companies, and most of which should be available from your local health food store. The one I use is Pit Rok, which I have found to be very effective. They cost on average about £5, which is a bit more than the more conventional aluminium based ones, but which last for ages, so I consider it to be money well spent.

Hi Ruth,
I use Subdue from Neways.
It's herbal-based, and is unfragranced.
I'm in Africa at the moment, it's above 30 degrees here, and it's working very well :)
Be well,

Hi Ru,
Pit Rok now have a liquid spray version in health food shops. It's very effective. I went all through July and August with it and no-one complained! I found the solid version was making a mess of my shelf - all those crystals falling down.
Try it!

I use Subdue too but I have noticed that Holland & Barratt are doing some now. Think they may still contain aluminium though.

We had a topic about this on old Hp and I think I remembered someone saying that those deoderant crysals still contained aluminium, which is not good for your body.
I use Bionsen(?) from Boots which is Aluminium free. It is a stick and is very good. I do find that I have to walk around for a few minutes with my arms in the air but apart from that it works great, no trouble.

Am happy to carry on using my Thai Stone - aliminium or not, after all the in area used most of the traffic is outward bound. :D
I don't understand why anyone would want to block their pores unless they have a serious problem with their sympathetic nervous system, in which case they should get that looked into. Preferable not by orthodox medicine cos it seems the only approach they have is to destroy the local sympathetic nerves to the area. [:o]
Gently glowing - And. :)

Guys, I have to resurrect this discussion! I have been using the Pit Rok spray and it's fine in cooler months, but to be quite blunt I am not one of those ladies who 'glow'. I sweat :( and now that I'm doing IHM I'm having to get up close and personal. I want people to enjoy the experience, not sit there with a peg on their nose :D. I know I want it all, but is there a nice natural deodorant without aluminium that does the job for us riper individuals? I'm keeping the offending area nicely trimmed to give myself a fighting chance, but I do need some extra help!

Hi All
I have found a very effective deodorant without Aluminium or Alcohol available from the Good Earth company. The web address is http://www.goodearthcatalogue.co.uk. It it Aloe Vera based and contains oils of Lemon, Mint, Lavendin, Mandarin, Pine Eucalyptus and Laurel. It costs £6.95 plus p+p but it lasts ages and, like you Siobhan I get up close in my treatments and need to feel confident. No one has complained yet!!

So all Pit Rokkers - spray or original?
I like the idea of the spray for ease of use, but I do sweat quite a lot so also want the most effective.
Let me know....

I personally use the crystal, but my other half uses the spray - on his feet at my insistance!! I think the crystal would last longer though.

I went to the health food store at lunchtime and spoke to the guy there. He didn't get on with the spray but recommends the crystal, so I bought one to give it a go. I guess it's very much up to the individual armpit, isn't it? :D Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

Hi Siobhan,
I was using the pit rok stuff, but am using the Bionsen (liquid version) at the moment. It's aluminium free, and I've found it to be very good. And you can get it in loads of supermarkets so it's easy to get hold of. So if your crystal doesn't quite do the job, you could give that a go.
