Neck Pain - Help
Hiya everyone
Yesterday morning, I turned over in bed and heard my neck crick. I sat upright and felt some pain. Has the day wore on the pain was getting worse. I was due to go out for tea and was tying my hair back when suddenly the top of my neck spasm something terrible. I was screaming in pain.
My hubby took me straight to ER and luckily I was seen straight away.
The pain is at the highest point of my spine (actually my lower head) and just to the right. The doctor checked it and said it wasn't spinal but muscular. (Twisited muscles or something along those lines) Anyhow she sugested I just take paracetamol and Ibrufen, she also gave me an injection - not sure what that was but it hurt like hell.
When I got home, it spasmed again another 4 times, each time the pain is excuritating. I have to blow through the pain (similar to when you blow through your labour pains.) and try and relax which makes the spasm pass more quickley.
Any ideas on other ways I can ease the pain. I had a terrible nights sleep with it, had to lie completley flat all night.

sorry to hear about your neck! a similar thing happened to me last week ( exactly the same place as you are discribing)i woke up to an incredibly painful neck and couln't turn my head the pain was severe, i put up with it for a couple of days and then went to the doctors who perscribed anti-inflammatories and valium to relax the muscle! much to my suprise after taking one lot of the medication it was dramatically reduced!
A few days on and it is 98% better! I dont like taking medications but sometimes you have too!

Thanks for getting back to me.
Wow Valium huh, I could do with some of that. I am so scared that my neck is going to spasm. I am trying to keep relaxed and not move as this helps. I have also got a heat pad strapped to the area, this is also helping a little.
I will give it another couple of days and if it still hurts I will go to the Doctors again.
