Small Blood Clot In Calf Vein

Hiya Everyone
Yesterday I had to go and see my doctor about a repeat perscribtion. While I was there, I thought I would mention a vein that had come to the surface in my leg, it has being hurting (like a throbing toothache) and I thought it might be a varicose vein.
Anyhow the doctor felt it and said calmly, "Oh yes, you have a small blood clot there."
I was mortified, thought my heart was gonna give out at any moment. lol but she explained that was a little infection in the vein and it is know as Phlebitis. Did some checks on the internet and it turns out, that the blood clot isn't as scary as it first sounds.
But during the night, my calf area (where the vein is) had the worst cramps that I have felt. It only lasted a few seconds but it hurt like crazy.
Just wondered if anyone suffers from Phlebitis and are the cramps and Phlebitis related?

dearest angel I have never had phlebitus but I would always take a blood clot not matter how small extremely sertiously. Please keep checking on it I had a friend who had a blood clot in her leg and the first she knew of it was the pain in her leg and her calf became hard.
She was taken into hospital to have her blood thinned to get rid of the clot and then it was thickened back to normal, Now this was thirty years ago and the treatment is probable a lot less invasive but please make sure that the dam thing doesn't move.
I am sorry about you being in pain maybe the doctor can give you some pain killers that will work, I have another friend who suffers a lot from this problem but hasn't been told that she has a blood clot. (Mind you its just as well as she would have had herself dying and with only hours to live, she's like that, came out of watching love story convinced she had cancer!)
Please keep us posted, in the meantime hugs and healing are heading your way.

Hiya Marnie
Thanks for replying, I was pretty shocked that the Doc thought it was nothing and almost just brushed it away. I check it every night and during the day I am wearing those tube sock type bandages under my trousers - basically cos I hate tights and the Doc sugested suport tights, figured these tube bandages will do the same kinda thing.
The pain has eased a great deal now, the doc gave me ibrofen for it.
Wonder if anyone else has this condition?
