food poisoning
me and hubby had yukky food poisoning on saturday night.
we went to a thai place - we've been before a couple of times,
have narrowed it down to the rice which we shared.
i think i'm gonna have to call the restaurant and tell them - has anyone had any experience of complaining to a restaurant about food poisoning???

Hi,
Sorry to hear that; have you both been to the doctor and did he/she test you for food poisoning?
If the doctor did test you both and you were found to have food poisoning, then the doctor will notify the public health departement and they will send an enviromental health officer to investigate the restauraunt.
But be sure it is food poisoning before you complain to the restauraunt.
If you could give a breakdown of what you both ate that day and how many hours later did you both begin to have food poisoning complaints.

i don't want to make a big issue as we have been there before and had wonderful food.
i totally understand about being 100% certain before making a complaint.
Answers:
Remember they may also need a sample of the offending food if you still have some.

I have never experienced a GP testing for food poisoning, even when I have been extrememly unwell while pregnant and can definitely attribute it to the food in particular restaurant. I expect that unless you are so ill you end up in hospital it is assumed your body will just deal with it.
Answers:
Usually if the infection clears up after a few days there is not much you can do. However, if it goes on longer, then your GP may want to take stool samples to test for a notifiable infection such as campylobacter or e.coli.
That's not to say that your illness, even if short, wasn't caused by the food, but it is difficult to prove.
